Hey guys my name is Geo from new jersey, Im 17 years old currently working on my cd and also recording other artists. I do hip hop music etc. I am having some difficulties with my mixer. I have a Yamaha Mg 10/2 Mixing Console and the quality is good but I noticed that my left pans arent working properly as I would try to work in Sonar Producers edition something wasn't right. My left and right pan are not equal at all. I mostly record in adobe audition which is very much easier for me and I have the same problem. So if you guys can kindly give me some tips and how to solve this problem I would appreciate it very much. Thank You !

What sound card are you using to record into Sonar or Audition? You may not have the correct inputs selected.

As well, when you say the pan isnt working going to the left, do you mean on playback or when trying to record?

Divide and conquer, or, process of elimination.

Start at the speakers. Switch the L and R cables connecting at the speaker jacks. If the problem stays the same, then one speaker is not working correctly, or the room and location is very bad.

If not that, then put the connections back the way they were.

Now, change the cables coming from the monitor source (mixer, or amp). If the problem stays the same, then it's the cable that's the problem.

Otherwise, swap them back.

Keep this process up until you find which component is the culprit. Then you can perform fixes to the actual problem, instead of trying to fix something that may not be broken.

When you get to a point that the problem switches to the other side, then it's that last item that you switched.

There's a few other Yamaha MG users here (me included).

Good luck.
