I have a presonus firepod and when using the setup on user's manual i have problems with montiros and headphone amp. Only one side work. Am i using the wrong cables?
When i connect monitors to the HEADPHONE Output L and R work perfect.
Ask questions if im not clear. Thank you
Pablo

Jul 21, 2006 04:34 pm It sounds like the Firepod has separate outputs for the left and right sides of the stereo signal. But the headphone out is probably just 1 stereo jack that has both left and right included.
On the back of the Firepod, see how the outputs are in pairs? I think that each pair of outs (1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8) will each carry a stereo signal. So you'll need to combine the 2 sides of the stereo output from your Firepod into 1 stereo signal, and then feed that into your monitoring setup.
Long story short, take a 1/4" out from outputs 1 and 2, plug them into an adaptor that accepts 2 male mono plugs and combines them into 1 male stereo plug, and plug that into your monitors.
That's my best guess at least.
Jul 21, 2006 04:49 pm that'd be the solution....but it sounds stupid that i have to do ALLL that just to get it to work. oh well.
Thank you man!

Jul 21, 2006 05:06 pm If it's anything like an echo setup then the 1/2 would be defaulted to sending the L/R signals which is where the headphones pull their signal from. 1 being left and 2 being right.
But yeah, I just picked up some nearfield monitors finally which both have 1/4" or xlr inputs. Soo.. output 1 to left speaker, output 2 to right speaker.
If your monitor setup has one input for a stereo signal then you have to go with an adaptor as the Tad suggested.
A little more detail on how your outputs are connected to your monitor setup might help to better understand where the issue might be coming from.
P.S. Welcome to HRC from a fellow noob, you can check out anytime you like, but you can't never leave.

Jul 21, 2006 06:48 pm Yes I think you're on to it. I'm assuming that your sound card has RCA inputs? If so, then that 2nd cable will do the job nicely.
