Ok so, i am sorta new to the home recording scene and i am still unfamiliar with some of the technology needed to achieve certain things. i have a 16ch analog mixer, 6 shure drums mics ( including condesners), and an SB Audigy 4 external soundcard. with this, i can only achieve a poor quality drum track, as i cannot edit and later eq individual drums.

Does anyone have any advice or ideas you can give me to achieve individual tracks for drums. I have considered replacing my mixer with a new one with a usb or firewire output, is this a good idea? if so what are some decent, but not too expensive options?

Any information would be very much appreciated.
thankyou

in order to keep drum track isolated you need a mixer that has direct outputs for each channel, so at least 6 channels would need direct outputs, then, you need a sound card that has at least 6 inputs, such as the ESP 1010 from ESI or the Delta 1010 from M-Audio. Then, in your tracking program you need to arm 6 tracks, assigning the input for each as a different input on the sound card.
