Headphone comparison

I'm looking for a quality headphone but don't want to spend too too much. I'm considering

AKG 240S: good price but maybe not enough isolation for recording

AKG 171: Look like a good deal but if going to spend 160 might as well spend 200 on the

AKG 271: Which look phenomenal and I'm just wondering if they are worth the 200 bucks, and if not if the AKG 240Ss are worth 100 bucks.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreiciated. Thanks!

Although they are not quite as flat as the K240S the K271S is absolutely worth the money if you require a good headphone with comfort and isolation. I agree that the 271 is actually worth the extra from the 171.

I suggest if you have the store near that you can drag a friend along and make him wear the phones while music is playing at a level you think you will be usng and you can listen for how much differance there is in the bleed from the 271 to the 240.

I use them both and the 240 works fine for most applications. I even use them for vocalists that dont require a loud feed through the phones.

I just bought the 240s and it is perfectly fine for recording vocals and everything else but when recording drums it seems to simply not have enough isolation. I havent done much research on the 171 or 271 but if they seem to have more isolation than the 240s i would go for them. There was this other pair at the store i went to that seemed to have more iso than mine...i think it was a sony pair in the 100$ price range. Might want to check those out.
