Hey guys,
I just put together another song, Nightfall, and was wondering how the drums sounded in the mix. I've been playing around with it for a while now, and I think I got a good balance, but would still like a second opinion on the matter.

Thanks :)

Jun 03, 2006 01:59 pm Dirzzt, I would say they can definately come up a good deal. They are very back in the mix, even during the quieter passages. They are burried very deep in the mix. The guitars are probably what are overpowering the drums to be honest.
I would try and find some even ground with the mix between drums and guitar. Or possibly add some major compression to the drum tracks.
Otherwise, nice cover again. Great playing as well.

Jun 06, 2006 04:04 am Hmm... making the drums louder as a whole seems to cover up the rhythms a tad too much. I think I may need to just increase the snare, bass, and toms- and leave all of the brass the same.
It is those three that you are considering too quiet, right?

Jun 07, 2006 07:31 pm ITs not so much making them basically louder with volume. It is the use of compresion and EQ to seperate them from the other instruments in the mix itself. You need to give them their own space in the mix, by either boosting or cuttin EQ on either the drums themselves or the other instruments.
But yes, it is mainly those three that are very hidden in the mix. But as well the brass is kind of drowned out as well in the mix.
