i ve recently got into a song by black label society called in this river. i was trying to create some drum patterns for that song since it doesnt have any drum part in it. after using the program 'guitar pro' making the drum beats, i was playing it using 'guitar pro' and also playing the actual song in windows media player, the tempo matches perfectly but it just goes off beat after some parts, so it should be the changes of the time signature

i am only familiar with 4/4
so can someone listen to the song and find out for me when it is running on 3/4 or something please?

Well, I took a quick look around at some tab sites and none list a tempo change that I saw. I only checked a few of them. You might want to do a google on the song itself and see what you can find. I dont have that disc or I would give it a listen. Maybe someone else here knows and will chime in.

I listened to the entire song, and it's all in 4/4.

Your drum beat my go off sometimes because the song wasn't created on a loop or metronome, or if your loop/beat is slightly off in terms of length.

yep, dj's can fix that on the fly, and are quite good at it, but it's damn near imposible to get a metronome set and stay on beat to a commercial cd....maybe the band wasn't playin' to a click...

Oh, I never even thought about that. I th in today we are getting so used to having a perfect tempo running that I forget about the days we didnt have that option and indeed the tempo swayed a little as the tune went on.

I am guessing that is absolutely the right thing happeing then.
