i would love it if you guys would tell me how it sounds so far. the drums are just a metrenome i programmed and it is just guitars and vocals right now. i would like to know if i need to fix anything and your thoughts about the song itself.www.unsignedbandweb.com/m...;mode=song_hifi

I will have to give it a listen tommorrow or so. Had a quick listen now. What did you use to record the guitar, and how did you record the guitar?

i used a digitech rp300 into an ibanez toneblaster amp cause the distortion on the amp is atrocious. recorded it with a sound addict mike, close into a behringer mixer and into the soundcard on my computer.

I would suggest to try going direct out of the RP300, skipping the amp and mike set up all together. The mic you listed is a bit on the low budget side and not sure if that is what is giving the guitar a very mid heavy sound. But try recording the guitar direct and messing about with the tone untill you get a bit fuller guitar sound.

What type of sound card are you using as well?

i have tried going straight from the rp300, i just can't get the sound i want, it has a grainy, muffled quality when i use the speaker sims, and without them it is very harsh. i didn't notice the mid range problems until you pointed them out. overall though i think that the bass will mix better into it, i always have problems getting the bass seperated good because my guitarist likes a massive low end. i like the sound, i know the rythym is a little off, but i am using this to send new songs i write to my guitarist in iraq, and i haven't played much in the last 5 years,so........

i am using the stock soundmax soundcard, it sucks i know, but bills come first. i am in the process of upgrading, but money is always a problem.

i forgot to say, i also used the same mic on the vocals, do you notice the eq problems there? i absolutely love that mike for live vocals and have used it reliably for 4 years. it was $120 when they first came out, but maybe the reason i love it for vocals is the same reason it is not suited for guitar. that being a very smooth low end

I would start with trying a differant mic then if you can get your hands on one. Maybe a 57 or a knock off of a 57.

Hi nephilimvox

Your vox sound really well recorded and well sung. Its definately the guitar letting the sound down. Boxy, mid heavy. I'm really struggling to hear the bass in this.....
I'm speaking from inexperience as i rarely record distorted gutar riffs but ya got to experiment with your amps settings and mic position if thats all ya got...

Good luck, mac
