PCI vs AGP

I'm looking for a new dual head vid card. My mobo (biostar nForce4 ultra) has an XGP slot, that will accept some AGP cards in 8x, but not all. I bought a g450, but it didn't start.

I'm liking the idea of not having the PCI buss taken up by video chatter, but am now thinking that the pci x16 slot may be way faster, even though its on the pci buss.

Plus, I wouldn't have to worry about compatibility with PCIx16.

Any thoughts on this subject, mainly speed and traffic of AGPx8 vs PCIx16.

Also, I may have heard that there's a problem with the nForce / PCIx16 but I can't recall where, or to what degree.

If anyone has some pearls of wisdom, I'd love to hear them.

Any opinions on cards are also welcome. Fanless, if possible.

PCI express X16 is faster BUT todays video cards really don't take advantage of the expanded bandwidth. Are you looking to play games? If not I wouldn't worry about AGP VS PCI express. Save money and buy dicounted AGP cards. Thats my take.

well, i just read through newegg's reviews, and somebody there posted that the XGP is running on the PCI buss anyway, so if that's true, I'd probably be running on the PCI (normal) buss anyways. I think I'll just look for the PCI x16 dual head, and go with that. Then no problem with buying an AGP and it not working (like my g450).
