I don't have GS 3 yet and I'm trying to decide whether to buy it nor not.

I've also not worked with Rewire and don't know much about it, so my questions might seem ingorant. But, I need an answer nonetheless.

Anyhow, the first question is, when you are using GS with Rewire in SONAR 5, can you hear the sampler live, or can you only hear it after it's recorded?

Also, Is there any loss of quality, and how is the latency? I'm using SONAR 5 with an Aardvark Q10.

Thanks guys!

Uh, I just realized how dumb sounding part of that question might be. I'm not using an Aardvark Q10 on the machine that would run GS 3, if I was, I would not need Rewire. I'm using an M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 USB. It has not GSIF capability, unlike my old Audiophile 24/96 PCI. I sure miss that card.

Sorry for the confusion!

ReWire is just a support type. It allows apps like Sonar and others to host another rewire client such as GS or Reason or even Project 5 can be either a ReWire client or host for that matter.

But yes, the synth will play live via Sonar. The main reason to ReWire it in Sonar is to allow for complete control of all its facilities within Sonar. That includes start/stop commands, timing functions and automation of other parameters in GS through Sonar.

No loss of Quality at all. Latency will depend on the sound card, not the application. If the PC and sound card are up to the job, then you wont suffer much from latency.
