Need help with firebox!!

Hello, I recently purchased a Presonus Firebox, but I can't seem to get it to record stereo.

Even if I pan it to the right in the Presonus mixer, it still plays back in my headphones in the left, and only the left.

When I record in Mic imput 1, the only channel that gets any imput is the left. When I record in Mic imput 2, the only channel that gets anything is the right. I have tried both SoundForge 8.0 and Cubase SX3 and they both do the same thing.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks.

That is becuase it is sending the input 1 signal to the left and input 2 to the right. You probably have it set to moniter the input of the Firebox via the headphones.

Are you using the Firebox headphone plug or one form a mixer?

Remember each of the Firebox inputs is acutally a mono input which means it will record to just one track unless you tell it to send it to 2 tracks. Whic isnt really necassary.

Anyway, that is how it is supposed to function. It will record in mono and the you will set you panning for the track it recorded to either the middle or left or right.

I am using the Firebox headphone plug.

Do all audio interfaces record in mono? I didn't know that!

By the way, do you know if there's any way I can use my Soundblaster to play back my audio, rather than having to use the headphone jack in the firebox?

Thanks a lot!!

You can use the SB to playback, but not at the same time you are recording with the Firebox. so for mixing you could use the SB on its own.

But yes, each channel on an audio interface is going to be mono input. For stereo you will use 2 inputs together with say 2 mics or the stereo output of an FX processor or keyboard or the like.
