hey this was basically just a simple song to test out my korg ms2000b when i got it. this was also back when when i was going through a tascam us-122, and using as little mixing as possible. i'd be cautious listening through headphones as there might be some harsh pitches.
it's long and i understand it might be hard to get through all of it, so if you're going to skip it at least check out the last couple minutes where i really had fun.
anyway, i'd love it if you guys told me what you thought, and thanks for listening
it's called "baby magic"

and yes, i did get the name from a bottle of talcum powder that was sitting on my desk.

Feb 14, 2006 07:56 pm Well I gotta admit I kinda enjoyed it, in the beggining it got a little long winded with no drums or any other bits thrown in. But you didi throw in some interesting little bits as it moved on.
I kinda liked the TANGO fell of the first part of it. Then you moved into a bit of a jazzy feel, then onto a little mysterious feel, and back into the Tango feel again for the ending part.
I guess I would really like to hear you add some percusive elements to it, even just some very simple drum loop bits.
I gotta say that ending bit really took off didnt it.
I think I'll download this one to hear it again later.

Feb 16, 2006 01:15 am i know what you mean about the long-windedness, i was wondering if some parts went on for too long.
as for the drum loops, it would be virtually impossible because my tempo is all over the place, and i never liked drum machines. hopefully i'll get a chance to record some drums over it. or i was thinking, to stay in the ms2000 theme i could figure out some percussive synth sounds, would be pretty cool sounding i think.
hey thanks for listening and the feedback

Feb 16, 2006 09:17 pm Absolutely good idea on the percusive sounds from the Korg. You will find tons in there I am sure.

Feb 20, 2006 03:26 pm I enjoyed this piece. I just feel like it could use a little doctoring (example, the highs need a little boost in the beginning). The part that comes in at I believe around 2:30 (hope that's accurate) is cool. I agree with Noize in that it could use a little percussion when you get a chance. You could always use a sequencer if you're having trouble with a drum machine matching your time.
As far as what you said about the piece being long, I didn't notice because it stays interesting the whole time!
Good work =)
