WooHoo, one of my new toys arrived last night. My Audiophile 2496. I'll tell ya, my Gina20 came out and my Audiophile went in so fast it would make your head spin!

Don't get me wrong, the Gina20 is a great card, it just doesn't suit my needs anymore. The Audiophile installed painlessly. The only prob I had was missing my left channel I searched the drivers (Whoa, M-Audio has quite the driver panel!) the software, checked wires and couldn't find anything, then I check my speaker wire...it was not in securely...what an idiot!

Anyway, got one of the cards I have coming, now I am just waiting on my beta card from Philips.

Echo Gina20 for sale! Make me an offer. Now I have a person reason to get on making that classified section ;-)

20 bit analog inputs
24 bit S/PDIF inputs
2 analog ins
8 analog outs
S/PDIF in and out

analogs I/O is in a breakout box that sits on your desk, S/PDIF I/O is on the card.

With the new ASIO/WDM drivers the S/PDIF is also a 5.1 digital out. Cubase gets the latency down in the low two digit area (somewhere around 20ms).

If you are considering it, make sure your Dell has an Intel chipset. Not just the CPU (your P4 is Intel) but the chipset on the motherboard as well. I would assume it is, but you must make sure. If it is, then it would work great for you.

By the way, the Dell 4300 has an Intel 845 chipset. I just checked at Dell support.

I'd be happy with $150 I suppose...the Gina 24 is now $399, which is what I bought mine for back in the day...what did you have in mind?

FYI for you or anyone else interested, I have all the original software (one CD full o stuff included CoolEdit Pro SE and a few other things) users manual and I think even the origianl packaging, but not sure about that one...

I'm intrigued... Why did you replace it though I have to ask... What didn't it do that the Audiophile does?

The Echo is to married to the Intel chipset. I have considered going Athlon XP but couldn't. The Gina is a perfectly fine card if you follow the system requirements...besides, dB Masters has had a very good year this year, so I wanted to invest a little back in, and the sound card was one place to do so.

Nothing is wrong with the card, I just needed something to shake up my routine a little, 24/96 support for film scoring and a bit lower latency. I will miss the 8 outs, I actually used six of then, but I will find a way. ;-)

Yes, the Gina is still a very viable card. The driver's are updated on the Echo site to current spec's. And it will run very well in a machine with an Intell chipset. So don't think it is not a good card, as it surely is.
