Dude, it is the little brother of the US-428. But I have heard it is a bit more refined. It has fewer in's and out's, and not as many control's. But the knob's and slider's are all programable, just like the 428. The USB connectivity was an issue on the 428 but not on this little bugger I hear.

I have also heard that they have improved the audio interface. The 428 had a variaty of issue's, as have some of the other mfg's. model's, but they have been resolved most of them with this unit.

I have not looked at the price, but I know the 428 was a bit pricey for what they offered. I personally am still looking at the EZ-Buss, but that is not a priority.

It's $299 at Musicians Friend service.bfast.com/bfast/c...mp;bfmtype=gear and the big brother is $499 service.bfast.com/bfast/c...mp;bfmtype=gear I was also breifly looking at the Digidesign Focusrite Mbox service.bfast.com/bfast/c...mp;bfmtype=gear for $449.

However, I am probably going to stick with the Delta 44 or one of the Audiophile series from M-Audio. All I know is I have to get a new card...and if I get away from Echo I can more easily upgrade my MoBo and CPU as well.

Glad to hear it, I KNEW somebody around here had one, I just couldn't remember who.

Thanks for the vote of confidence.

So it plays well with your Live under XP and stuff? Most any M Aduio I have seen does...I was considering a USB unit just to prevent IRQ probs and stuff, but I just don't want another darn external device! I got into PC recording partly to try to decrease the cable issue and all the junk sitting around ;-)

I am not super crazy about the idea of RCA jacks, but I can live with that, the only crad I could find with 1/4's and S/PDIF that didn'
t have 8 or 10 ins and outs (which I NEVER need) was from Echo, and I don't want to go down that road again, they make great stuff, but I don't like the platform constraints they require, or required...

yeah db about 8 months ago you brought both thoughs cards to my attention and i had to weigh the same issue , I think the RCA thing is not a problem in fact it's been useful for a few experiments hahaha . My sound disaster works fine with the card also , no problems so far with either card or XP .

Hey collapse, I got an email and an invite to play around with one, it was the demo version release. It was really easy to program compared to the Tascam and the other's. It also was capable of a lot more then the other's. It is really a giant programable remote for your DAW. It also was capable of changing program's without a hitch, or a glitch. And this meant changing right in the midle of a running program without a missed beat. I believe it is schedule for release yet this year, but not sure on that.

And dB, I feel sorry for that guy, he obviuosly wasn't very literate at all. I have seen that manual on the 428 and it is a little sparse, but I think even my son could get it up and running. I talked to a couple people who are using the new 224 and said they like it and it is portable. No mention of any trouble at all. And if they had any they would have takin the thing back.

yea.. as i said, ive seen a little bit of information here and there on it but nothing official stating when its oging to be released or anything like that. its in the ams print catalog and their site.. so it has to be getting close to release date.

when it comes out im definitely going to snag one. the fact that you can configure it however you like is awesome.

WooHoo! I should be getting TWO new sound cards this week, one from M-Audio and the sound card I am going to be beta testing for Philips.

I hope the wife and kids get a good look at me, cuz they won't be seeing me for a while ;-)
