as a linux user I don't have a recycle bin... I have have a TRASH CAN! MUH HAHa!!! :) j/k

For being done in a hotel on strigs from target I'd say it came out pretty good. There is room for improvement... and I'd need a .wav to really tell

basically IMHO:
The somg is a simple acoustic and vocal song and therefore should be reletivly straight forward. Cut effects on vocals and anything on the guitar.

The guitar is thin... this is probably a combination of target strings and mp3 compession... if the guitar itself is thin I would mic the resinator box just below your elbow...and about 3" from the guitar... no more than 6". If you're micing the sound hole... well... don't do that. :)

there is distortion... I think some of the guitar is clipping if it is... then ... don't do that either:)

probably the thing to remember is, "Just because it's recorded don't mean it needs effects." :) last fall I recorded a piano and simply did a 3db boost with my limiter and that was it. acoustic instruments and vocals I like natural.

I don't like to talk about who falls where is "goodness" until I can finish something I'm allowed to put up myself. But your guitar playing is fine and you voice can hold a tune which makes you better than most. You just need to get some quality stings on the guitar and calm down on post processing. :)

Lets see, tonyd's genre.

Acoustemmo? (acoustic emmo)

I dont really know were to put your stuff tony, as far as genre goes. Its acoustic, mostly ballady stuff. Emotional as well, thus the emmo thing.

Acoustic Emo, definitely. That sounds like a pretty good fit.

Aye, I'd subscribe with these genre assessments...

It's usally acoustic/darkish ballad/rockyish/folk almost at times.

In terms of advice and opinion - I LIKE all yer stuff Tony. Its all gid. There are points in many recordings where I hear the guitars (especially when distorted) maxing out and maybe smidgen clipping but thats rectifiable. I think you said you used the DI method often times and do you use software effects??? I reckon some form of modeller would do you a good hand....but aye, its always top notch stuff.

Put it this way, I put no crap on my MP3 player and I find a lot of stuff passing thru my lugs (ears) from good ole HRC, including yourself....

As for the videos ... well, they are top bannana tae! Keep it up man...everyone loves the TonyD sound!

Coco.
