im not talking, do the shopping, take the dog out etc, im wondering what things you wanna achieve musically that youre working on or thinking about right now

my top three are

1. learn to make my own distortion pedal
2. learn to programme kick *** drums like ya get in electronic music
3. be bigger than the beatles

modest aims im sure youll agree...

what are yours guys and gals? bring em on!

those are great goals. mine is to finish this damn song.

also

1. learn to use compression TO TASTE
2. get a full-sounding mix by mixing/panning the guitars and drums and bass in a solid-sounding way. (hit or miss so far)
3. make every new song better than the last by paying more attention to the reason behind the chord resolutions--the tensions of the progression and such--and not being afraid to add tiny transitions of a measure or two.

basic stuff for me still.

Well flame, if you're looking to make a distortion pedal, go to diystompboxes.com or runoffgroove.com for more info. I've made a few really nice sounding ones from the information on those sites. I'd suggest the Big Daddy distortion from runoffgroove. It's got REALLY good picking dynamics and a pretty decent amount of distortion with a small parts-count. As for my to-do list, it would prolly be:

1. Learn to write lyrics. My problem seems to be that I cant write lyrics that are meaningful enough to go with the music that I write.

2. Complete an ENTIRE song, rather than having a zillion recordings of guitar licks, drum beats and vocal parts.

3. Repeat #2 five times (at least).

4. Keep on making music!

1. Get close to my full vocal range back
2. Get better at recording & mixing
3. Learn to play the drums (I can finally do some simple stuff now)
4. Finish the 4 songs I've got on the burner (see #1 LOL)
5. Get the 2 brand new 2004 songs I'm working on done in 2004
6. Already tried to be bigger than the Beatles, looks like I failed that one <G>

1. Find a job. While acheiving this, do the following...
a. Finish some of the multiple projects I have now.
b. Find sites with sound bites from cheesy old sci-fi and monster movies, and build the collection of samples I'll need to complete one particular musical project
c. Clean the house
d. Work on personal website

Flame...here yi go:

1. Finish this EP I've been doing since last October (and really for the last 10 years!)
2. Learn to play the BAGPIPES and maybe even obtain a decent set !! WAY LOUD (this is for recording of course)
3. Hit the bars, clubs and other giggin holes roond Edinburgh and be sucessful.

So...my ambition really is to record a kick *** EP (now almost an album of sorts), take it oot and play live then sell out some gigs and get some real fanbase goin!

We can but dream...

Coco.

P.S. Another one would be to be able to replicate my recorded sound for more than 2 weeks i.e. I get a killer cut, record it, change it then canny get it back again!

I am taking next week off, and a week at the end of September to go on vacation to New Mexico to try and get abducted by aliens on the Alien highway, visit as close to Area 51 as I can get, stop over at Vegas, maybe hit Carlsbad Caverns and stuff like that.

Reassemble the study and master bedroom after painting.

Paint the guest bedroom

Reassemble the upstairs bathroom after replacing all tile wallboard and repainting (boneheads who build home forgot sheet of green board behind tile)

Clean the paint off the rest of the house.

Put all of my tools away.

Clean garage and basement.

Mow lawn and finish triming trees / bushes.

Find time to practice upright bass.

Find time to play bass guitar.

Use camper before winter comes.

Start on Flames brass part for song.

Start recording three female vocalists that I have put off hoping to shower prior to recording them (back to tile delima).

Cut my mother-in-laws carpet.(three days late and running)

Finish closing down auto repair shop.

Quit writing in this thread as it is depressing me!

my truck broke down on highway 95
feel dam lucky just to be alive
going down to mako's bar and grill
going down to drink, till i get my fill

its a typical, country song
where everything in life
just goes wrong

think thats bad, ya know i got even worse
my poor dog lucky, got runover by a hurse (sp?)
my 29th wife left just the other day
but thats alright i didnt like her much anyway

its a typical, country song
where everything in life
just goes wrong

I drank all my money, and i cant pay my rent
and i cant find a place to pitch my tent
My bar tab's known, both far and wide,
when i come in, the bar tenders hide

so its a typical, country song
where everything in life
just goes wrong

ya its a typical, country song
where everything in life
just goes wrong

Flood clean-up sux. We got 19 inches of rain water in our house last labor day. 16 families on our street had the same experience. It ruined our fridge, stove, couches, beds, walls, floors, family albums, dressers, everything that got wet. No recording equipment tho. Check your homeowners policies to make sure you're covered if water seeps in from outside. Ours didn't, and most don't unless you're in a flood plane (next to a river or sumpm). That's all done, so this is what's next.

1-Get this film editing software to burn DVD's faster.
2-Own and operate a mobile recording suite.
3-Be good enough to get a Shrapnel Records release.
