Jun 03, 2005 02:20 am I watched a special on Discovery that featured the Liger as well as the Tigon, really something.
One of the neatest experiences I've had was being about 3 ft from an uncaged tiger that the trainer (a gal no less, 120lbs sopping wet if that <g>)was walking thru the animal park and I was amazed then at how large a regular tiger is up close, and the liger dwarfs it. Couldn't imagine being close to one of those. :)

Jun 03, 2005 09:15 am wow... I didnt know there was still a debate on weather or not they existed. I saw a special on the discovery channel about them roughly 2 years ago.

Jun 03, 2005 03:56 pm are ligers actually bigger than tigers. That doesn't make sense. Since ligers are mix between tigers and lions, and most tigers are already bigger than lions, then doesn't it seem that ligers would be same or smaller than tigers?
What's the diff between liger and tigon.
My friend went to a marine park in Hawaii, and said he got to pet a wolphin. No joke.
Jun 04, 2005 11:29 am heh yeah sounds like simple math to me
Big + small = REALLY BIG
Jun 04, 2005 11:31 am hmmm, go some trouble in the regular expression parsing it would seem...
Jun 04, 2005 11:31 am lol WTF
simple math!!!!

Jun 06, 2005 11:39 am Ligers = Male lion + Female tiger
Tigons = Male Tiger + Female Lion
My aunt is 5'3".. my uncle is 5'10"... my cousin is 6'7". I think things like this just kind of happen. I dont think the size of the parents will always determine the size of the offspring.

Jun 06, 2005 11:59 am some 18th century geneticist (a monk too) found out that it was always a generation away (meaning the grandkids) that traits showed themselves. he found this out by breeding pea plants of different traits.
(saw it on bill nye)
though that doesn't apply to the liger issue. those are just huge!
Jun 06, 2005 12:09 pm bill nye rocked! but he had nothing on Mr.Wizard!

Jun 15, 2005 08:50 am I've heard so many differing opinions. My one friend hated it, my other friend liked it. My wife and I were red-faced from laughing through the entire movie. I just remember kids like that, and he was the embodiment of all nerds I knew growing up.
I mean the Trapper Keeper, the Moon Boots, talking about nun-chucks and karate and warriors, the glamour shots, the time machine (set to 1982, of course!)...I just thought it was a riot!
Jun 15, 2005 08:55 am I haven't seen it yet, but I have heard nothing but how funny it is...it sounds like a good throwback movie...HEY, I had moon boots once!
Oh, and they ain't nun-chucks, they are nunchakus. :-)

XTC, yes you are the only person I've heard who didn't like that movie. I mean, I guess there's not really much plot, but Napoleon and his antics carry it regardless, in my opinion.
I have a couple friends that insist that I need to learn the dance sequence, cuz they say it reminds them of me. *laughs nervously*

Jun 15, 2005 10:41 pm The very same friend of mine that liked ND talked about Cabin Boy for about a year...when I finally sat to watch it with him, I don't think that I even made it 1/2 hour into it. Well, at least it had Andy Richter in it :)

May 04, 2012 02:21 pm The liger is a hybrid cross between a male lion and a tigress .In Animal Life and the World of Nature .you earn donations for your favorite nonprofit around 10 surviving ligers in the world, with adult ligers capable of growing much larger than average lions. Some animal groups hybridize better than others. their fertility is often in question and as to the best of my knowledge.
