collapse,
I like it, but it seems that the vocals really overpower everything else at times. I'd try and bring up the level of all the non vocal, non drum tracks. The effects on your voice fit the song well.

Sounds excellent here. I had to turn the volume up on it compared to the original, but other than that I wouldn't change anything, not that it needs changing.

That's sounding great collapse.

I would turn up the basslines a bit - they're a bit too low in the mix especially in the first half. And yes, the vocals are possibly a little bit too high.

But the mastering sounds great, really loud and crunchy - good work.

coolo and jues, could you be specific on which areas of the vox are possibly too high? keep in mind ive been working on this 4 or 5 hours a day for like 3 weeks.. so its a little hard for me to judge at this point =)

and coolo, ill pull things down instead of boosting.. so i can preserve my headroom. key to mastering/mixing.. pull down where you can.

jamie, acidplanet of all places. someone who works on the litany.net site found my stuff.. dug it and approached me with it.

thanks to all for the feedback. you dont know how invaluable it is.

in all parts, the vox need to be dropped by about 2-4dB.

It's not unusal to do this if you have been working on a mix all day.

heres an edited version with the vox tweaked a little bit. i dropped the vox roughly 2db. any more and they were losing their edge in the mix.

link killed.

Collapse, I don't know if this is too late but...

I was thinking specifically when you go to the parts that have heavy effects like when you say silent noise, silent...

I thought the rest of the vox were ok, and maybe a bit low in the new mix (but still ok). I think the levels of the vox with heavy effects sound good in the new mix.

FLAWLESS. Vox struck me as a tad loud - I'm hearing it on a pc speaker at work though, keep that in mind. Nice f'ing job, man. That song really draws you in.
BTW, I heard the original version - the edited copy gave me a 404 error.

The vox part probably seems loud to me because the tinny little speaker here doesn't reproduce bass at all... Hard to get an accurate picture of the sound while listening to it low enough that I don't disturb my coworkers. :)

Hey man... if they get to wear out Ricky Martin, Jimmy Buffett, and Britny Speers here, then I'll be spinning whatever I please. :) I just have to respect personal space and keep it down so I'm the only one who can hear it. Damn, but these people have bland taste in music (though Buffett's catchy). They should be tied up and forced to listen to the good stuff. hahahaha

collapse- how did you get that vocal sound? I've been trying to get that sound for a while now.

same vocal setup that i always use. i like to blame it on a combination of my preamp/mic and the zoom studio 1204 that i have.. something about that rack unit just gives things this dirty overdriven sound [depending on the patch].

aside from that.. layering.. towards the end, there are roughly 7 different tracks of vocals alone, all recorded a little differently.

Posted a review at Acid-Planet for ya dude. I love it. Like I have said before, you just keep getting better and better. And I must say this, I am a a big SP fan and you truly did the track justice.
