Halloween Plans Anyone

Myself, I'll probably chill at the house and try and get some work done while I intermitently get up to hand out some trick or treats. I already did the costume party thing last weekend. My boombox costume I made was pretty cool, but cumbersome, and I don't really want to use it again (saving it for an album cover picture though...). For those of you with kids, please tell me you're going to take them trick or treating or school festival or something! Anyone carving pumpkins. Does anyone still do bobbing for apples (i haven't done that fun one in a minute)? Next year, I already know I'm getting a gorilla suit, I just gotta decide how I'm going to accesorize it.

We did our annual trip to the apple orchard and pumpkin carving day on Sunday.

I'm staying home to give out candy to the kids of the 'hood and drink myself stupid while my wife takes our kids around the neighborhood with some other neighbors...normally I do the walking around with other dads, with one of us carrying a backpack full of beer, but due to my recent knee injury, walking for long hurts, especially when it's cold out.

'er indoors is taking da boy out (he's Boba Fett this year...Darth Vader is sooooo 2006!) with his friends. I'm going to try to duck into the garage/studio and start on my Bleak challenge song. My street has no lights, and no sidewalk, and it's on a hill. Trick or treaters are few and far between. We buy a sh**load of candy and end up with a sh**load of candy.

I think restringing my guitars might be in order (could take all night!!!)

our kids did the pumpkin carving, and they're heading out tonight (small town). Though, it is raining, which will put a serious damper on the trick-or-treating.

I'm not looking forward to the 'drive them around' angle, though I may have to.

The missus and I usually sit on the porch, and hand out candys to the kids.

My youngest (12) and her friend are going as salt & pepper shakers. Big foam outfits, and silver topper hat type things. very cool.

I'll be drinking beer while Tambra hands out candy. If the kids show up. We didn't get any trick-or-treaters last year.

Maybe because they all know that creepy Herb guy lives there.

You can be like that guy from 'Monster House':

"Get off my lawn, do you want to get eaten?"

pretty cool movie, btw.

Same thing happens every year:

- buy lots of candy
- carve pumpkins
- turn on the porch light
- the wife goes to see her neices and nephews in their cutesy kiddy costumes (we have no kids)
- I turn off the porch light
- I drink gin and eat candy all night alone
- wife comes back none-the-wiser

Hahaha dB. c'mon down, just hop on I-35 South and you'll end up close enough. I'll even buy good gin.

Actually this year I think she's staying home, which puts a wrinkle in my plans. Maybe I'll put her on door duty while I work on my Dread Zeppelin version of In The Ghetto.

I think it has more to do with the other 364 days a year when I drink gin alone.

I spent 2 hours waiting for a tow truck because my transmission went out...

...so now I'm eating pizza and drinking chocolate milk and beer ...because my day can't get any worse :)

Me, I hid down here and made scary noise's with the synth's and other assorted nonsense. While VPN'd in to our network to try and resolve the issues that have been cropping up since some idiot carried a friggin virus in on his laptop and turned it loose on the network.

I have a tooth ache so no candy here for the moment. Although Gin does sound like a remedy I might think about.

I stayed at home and touched up this mastering job i've been working on for some friends. Had about 20 trick or treaters come by. Ate about 6 or 7 mini candy bars.... Nothing too interesting. I wish I could still go trick or treating though...

We had three groups tonight, and I distributed a few Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.

It was a cool(o) mastering job.

We had quite a few kids this year. It was fun, I walked around the living room drinking beer, playing guitar waiting for the next batch of kids to come along. Give them candy, flirt with their moms, most of whom are friends of my wife :-)

Kids came home, empty their loot and give me all the candy they don't like...w00t. Score.

No boobies, but it was fun.

yeah last year was my first time handin' out the candy, and i recall it felt good, and i do remember 1 or 2 MILF's....but yeah i DID get drunk, and remember tellin' the kids (towards the end of my candy stash) to take as much as they wanted, just so i could turn out the porch lights sooner....this year i had to work.

saw danzig at the greek theatre here in LA. doyle came out for three misfits songs at the end. show was kind of short for noise/zoning reasons. danzig had broken his shoulder by falling off the stage in baltimore, so he appeared with his left arm in a black sling.

this is my fifth D show. and on halloween night. in an outdoor amphitheatre in a park in the hollywood hills. pretty good way to spend a halloween.

man, the san fernando valley is looking more and more like 'where i should be' daily....i started google-earthing that area awhile, and am quite impressed with the pics/vibe in the area...

my biggest fear is becoming 'one of them' "star-born" type people that will never 'make it', which i'm sure the area is saturated with....

market saturation: that's my new 'worst fear' thing now....there are SO MANY damn fine musicians in my area, i'm just sick of the competition factor....but i'm drawn to 'like-minded' people and to me, it seems like i should be there...i'm just unsure.

what's your feelings forty? you're an orlando transplant (as are my buds in "Old Fashioned Beatdown" aka "OFB"...but the overall saturation has been a big turn-off to me for the area. how are you liking it?

Point your Google-Earth a little North of the SFV (I'm just partial to this area...). Ventura is great. 40 minutes from Santa Barbara, and 45 minutes from LA. No smog, no 'wannabe' vibe, and cool people.

I went home and helped carve pumpkins, then I went to bed due to a migraine.
The neighbours have a friend who likes to leave his dog there for some reason. The dog barks incessently the moment the neighbours go out. They went out around six. Their friend probably doesn't leave his dog at his house because it barks and the neighbours complain! Nice.
I called them (I want to keep it friendly) and advised them that "that dog you borrow" was barking all night. They returned around nine.
Not good.

Didn't even eat any candy.
Or drink gin.

I managed to do both, and actually give a little candy to the kids. The wife stayed home, we turned on the porch light and quickly went through our small supply of candy with the neighbor kids. Seeing that we were about out, I ran to the store, stocked up on candy, and we only had 1 trick-or-treater after that! So now we're "stuck" (is anybody REALLY stuck with candy?) with a bunch of Reeses and KitKats. I'm gonna get fat this week.

My youngest (our daughter) went trick-or-treating with her friends, so this was the first time since my oldest son (he's 20) was young that I haven't been trick-or-treating. Something like 17 years in a row. That's longer than Brett Favre's streak!

So...I sat home and watched TV and handed out candy to all 10 of the kids that came to my house.

wyd, there are ostentatious people here, but you don't notice them unless you go to clubs or into the heart of hollywood itself. people are laid back here and slow. regular people and minorities outnumber stereotypical fame-seekers. but you also get the impression that seemingly regular people might have their fingers in something. the omnipresent 'laptop guy' archetype seems to be up to something. sitting in coffeeshops, probably working on screenplays, maybe. when you're sitting in restaurants, someone nearby is bound to be talking about music or film and something that's 'in the works.'

going out during the day, the town feels like it's on permanent lunch break. the vibe here is something like a college campus, all across the area. the only place i really see evidence of the wannabe fame thing is in music craigslist ads. but i've seen that in every city.

Ya, not many here last night. Although there were some cool ones. And some in snow mobile suits, whats up with that!!!

Other then the mom from across the street not to many hot moms came by. And a few that were to old to be trick or treating.

Halloween might be fun again if we'd go back to apples filled with LSD and razor blades!

Tadpui, that happens here to. The wife always buys way more then we need. But after the lights go out and the last trickster has gone. The boyz make quick work of dividing up what left.

Well OK it is usually the 2 of them brawling over the bowl of goodies. But this year they were good about it and each took what they liked best and no fighting.

forty, i was just thinking about this today....i'm in a VERY oversaturated area as far as pro audio goes, and i'm quite sick of it....and i'm not sure how different LA can be....i think i'm gonna set my sites on New Zealand again....but the beautiful pics on GE of the valley keep calling me, i love well manicured towns! it just makes the day seem better than it is. (i think Florida did this to me) because for some reason, seeing palm trees everyday makes you appreciate the little things a bit more...

well new zealand sounds amazing. i don't have my ear to the ground with music right now out here but LA is going to be oversaturated too. you see audio services all over the place here. independent audio and film studios and services all over the city. aside from that i see musicians out and about--they do tend to have more of a sense of style in terms of dress out here. craigslist ads run the gamut. i see a lot of technically amazing people out here. but that doesn't mean anything to me. sorry if this post is disjointed, i guess i still don't know what you mean.

well, i'm not quite sure what i mean...but i do like the aesthetics of the area very much....i like good scenery and from what i've seen your area has plenty of it....but that's pretty much all i'm gooin' on here, i can get past the 'fakeness' just fine, i'm just tired of living in the bible belt. i'm just not sure how 'better' things are out your way....i need to surround myself with like-minded people, and that's really what i'm after.

la has scenery, but the valley itself is more like a huge sprawl. it's miles of roads and businesses. however, there are mountains surrounding it, always visible, and the weather is amazing. and even though it's a huge sprawl, there are plenty of nooks and crannies. new 'spots' are everywhere, hidden. in the canyons between the SFV and hollywood, it's all winding roads and scenery and, in some canyons (like topanga) restaurants. la is '3d.' the topography of this place makes it so that the city unfolds in three dimensions. it feels like it surrounds you vertically and horizontally. and even in the big sprawl, you always find cool little places. restaurants with cool back patios and foliage. i would say that LA is not just one thing. it's everything. but the weather and topography are there behind everything, and those things are very good. you can drive through a ghetto here in the sunshine and in any other city that would depress you--but here not really. you can always see the mountains, or you know that the next town is just a mile away, and the way the area is broken up, you don't feel like you're in any one place. it's like a huge college campus or a patchwork of distinct neighborhoods. not what i expected at all.
