After working out the the song by ear.I did this cover over 2 days and i'm pretty pleased with it. Well the instrumental part, my vocals arn't up to much but this was my first crack at recording them and I only did 2 takes as I was in a rush to get it finished :)

Anyone have any comments or critisism etc?

Thanks dude :)

Yeh it's off Magic and Medicine. Ahh Dreaming of you rocks, i'd like to hear a cover of that :)

The drums were sequenced using Reason as were the Keyboards. The instruments (Bass and amp, Electric and zoom505 into line in, 6-string acoustic) were recorded into Cool Edit 2k with a 25 quid jhs dynamic mic I just got. Then the whole thing was arranged in Steinbergs Nuendo. Then I added a lil bit of normalization in Cool Edit 2k to finish.

Took about 10 hours to do though :P

I used C2 i think, then took the chorus and reverb off so it was plain sounding. Then in nuendo I upped the high frequencies to make it tinkle a bit more :)

Oh btw how does copyright work here? I mean if I made a song and posted it up, someone could nick it and use it as their own couldn't they?

It's no more likely to happen here than anywhere on the 'net. There are several threads on these forums regarding copyright and such. This site, or any site, has little to no way to control the actions of it's members, but needless to say, we consider ourselves among the more friendly, ethical and fun music-based communities on the web, and that sort of action by any member or visitor would not be looked upon favorably.

But them again, YOU might steal one of ours...you're the new guy :-) hehehe

Great Job, I'll have to take your word for it that it's a good cover since I've never heard Coral, but you did a very nice job on the song. :)

As far as posting songs here or anywhere, nothing ventured, nothing gained. :)

Haha dB Masters I wouldn't never steal anyfink guvna' honest!

I guess it's a case of taking a risk, or mailing it to myself 1st before I post it on the net :)

Thanks olddog, i'm inspired to do another Coral cover now, after all this positive feedback :)

Hey, besides, isn't the song you posted now just a rip off of some other bands song?

Ironic, huh? ;-)

(FYI, I know you were asking about future postings, I just couldn't resist in pointing out the irony.)

Just for the record I wasn't meaning to sound arrogant like my songs will be worth stealing or anything.

I just wondered how it all worked on these kind of sites - I was hoping there was some easy way of copyrighting stuff before posting it up actually.

Ok dB i admit it, next time i'll post irrelevant things seperatley :P

No, actually, that is a valid concern and a worthy inquiry. Nothing wrong with posting it, and nothing arrogant about being concerned about the safety of your intelectual property.

But, this is the World Wide Web the only way to assure 100% security of your works is to not let anyone hear it...which seems a shame.

Thanks for giving a listen r0b :) That wasn't a real good take of that one but it's the only one I have left of it. I'm working on some new stuff that maybe all this computer magic and stuff will make them sound great <G>

r0b - Never heard the song before, but I like your version. Very clean, no hiss or anything (of course I'm hearing this at work w/ the speaker turned down). Good playing on it too.
