I finally got the money and the ok build a "temp" studio (looking like three dismantalable floating rooms) at my parents house they are rebuilding and then in a year or so share a large workshop building with my dad next door to the house.
(yeah I'm 24 and live with my parents... I know I'm a loser :) )
acoustically I don't really know what would be worse...sharing a building with a mechanic/woodworker with heavy sound proofing...or having no sound proofing and being next to a shoddily soundproofed indoor gun range (damn police and their machine guns)...with major housing construction across the street... which is what I have to deal with now... :\

Jun 25, 2003 12:52 pm there's nothing wrong with living with your folks. if they didn't want you there they'd kick you out. After my mother left I moved back in with my father to help take care of things. He's disabled and can't drive or work because of his eyesight, so I stay here and it's a really mutually beneficial situation for us both. I help out with the bills and groceries and we stay out of each other's way. I'll be 23 in about three weeks.

Jun 25, 2003 02:20 pm i'm 21, and i don't know a single person my age who is living on their own and doesn't have serious money/debt issues. virtually all of my friends live at home, and have no current feasible plans to leave aside from the irritations of living under your parents' roof!
Jun 25, 2003 02:25 pm Myself and almost everybody I know left home at 18, whether going to college or to get a job.
In many cultures families stay living together forever, though it isn't typical Amercian culture, it's not unusual in some cultures, particularily the poorer nations where they have done so to help make ends meet.
I could not have lived at home any longer than I did. For graduation my parent gave me luggage as a present (seriously) and I left days thereafter.
