We need an FAQ section. BAD.

Mar 18, 2008 01:17 pm Let me re-phrase: we need people to read it then! Couldn't you make it a forum post and sticky it or somethin'?
Mar 18, 2008 01:37 pm Why bother, they won't read it if it's the first page of the site. Many don't want to read or research, they want answers handed to them on a pretty silver platter.
Mar 18, 2008 01:38 pm You sound so defeated since last we conversed :(
Mar 18, 2008 01:40 pm pfffft, not defeated at all, just know how people are...why spend time on something that will go wasted?

Mar 18, 2008 02:57 pm It sounds like a good idea to me, I see a sticky FAQ in most forums I visit.
But this is coming from one of the kings of requesting features that don't get used (me)...
Mar 18, 2008 04:25 pm I suppose you're right: most people see a forum and go directly to "post new thread" before reading anywhere (mostly because everybody wants to think that they're the first person ever to have this problem, and that there's a legion of pro engineers just waiting to answer haha)
On a related note, what's the best mic? :P

Mar 18, 2008 06:23 pm Didn't say what is the best mic for what application!
SM57. Ha.
I think having an FAQ section is pretty cool, but every thinks that their situation is special. Plus, it's great to have a member help you work through things. Makes me feel all fuzzy and warm...
I love you guys....

Mar 18, 2008 06:30 pm The SM-57 is obviously the best mic under $100 that makes TallChap all emotional.

Mar 18, 2008 06:47 pm I would say even if only 5% check the FAQ then it's worth it. At least it wouldn't hurt to sticky it.

Mar 18, 2008 07:03 pm ...you have to be careful... it might be a good idea to write a bot to occasionally post obvious questions covered in the FAQ to the forum otherwise forum usage can decrease significantly...

Mar 19, 2008 12:50 am Oh hell, why make it so less folks will post. This is a forum not a quick reference guide. Half the fun is meeting folks just starting out.
