This news is a bit old but I just read about it today. Hopefully this means a heavy Metallica Album again. I have kinda fell away from them since the Black album. Anyone heard any tracks or have any inside info on the new album? I think it's due out in March.

Ya, sadly I kind of agree. Although it would be nice to hear them step out into the void and do something beyond were they have been. I don't mean to stray away from the sound they are known for, but to add something else to the mix. Go back to Kill em All but with a much more polished sound.

Metalli-who? Wasn't that the band that sued their fans and kicked off this whole RIAA fiasco?

Ya, I'm not a big fan of the things they have done to the listening public. I think they were approached by the RIAA and made fools of by the RIAA as well. But that is another topic.

Tripps, what I would really like to see is for them to step beyond what they are known for and go in a direction similar to Night Wish and those that are like that. Taking a big grip on the classical style they used so often and making it a bigger part of what they do musically. Get a big friggin orchestra behind them again and go way over the top with it.

I would really dig that, 5 to 7 minute anthems of pure heavy mixed with classical. And onslaught of guitar and orchestra.

OOOoooooo, I'm getting goose bumps thinking about it.

ohhh, almost forgot. We went to the Trans Siberian Orchestra and WOW! What a show. Sounds like the kind of band you are describing.

Ya, TSO are pretty much exactly what I am describing. Only with NightWish they are of course tuning down even further then TSO normally does. Most of the TSO stuff is not drop tuned for the most part, but some of it is.

The way NightWish plays allows for huge synth/orchestra parts to be in there. And the female vocalist was to die for. Her voice makes the music come alive.

Scroll down to the Nemo video. Creek MArys Blood is also very good, not as heavy though. This is still with Tarja singing. She was simply amazing. Not taking anything away from the new vocalist but she is not Tarja. And this is not really the best of what this band has done. It is a middle of the road as far as heavy goes. And guitar players are amazing as well. I would rather listen to this then Metallica any day though really.

Another of course in the same vein as NightWish is Evanescence. Amy Lee has grown along with the band. Her voice I would almost compare with that of Tarja now. The power of her voice is what makes the heavyness of their music much more powerful in my book.

If Metalica could pull something like that out of the bag they might get a bit more respect from me as well as many others.

Tarja was awesome. Sad to see her go. The have a lot of really good songs (Nightwish that is).

Chelsea was into them big time for awhile and I think in some ways it was Nightwish that inspired her to sing.

Ah, then your more then familiar with them. I had come across an early piece with Tarja on it and was completely awestruck. There is a bit more to the story but I'll leave it at that. But having come in contact with them on more then one occasion really got me to like that type of music more then I had before.

I think Tarja as well as Amy probably inspired a few girls to give it a shot.

i donno, i get the impression that amy only has a two octave range (if that)...it seems all her vocal melodys stay in the same octave...i never could get into them...something just not right with a beautiful female vocal over heavily distorted 'metal' guitars, same with a symphony now that i think about it, however i DO like a good symphonic 'section' sans guitars, then back into heavyness, i just don't care for both going at the same time....i never developed a taste for it.

y'all like Lucina Coil (sp?)?

While Amy's older stuff was a bit limited as you stated, not true of the new stuff. She is a completely different vocalist now. Much wider range and still that huge voice.

And me, I'm a sucker for anything with an archestra behind it, especially heavy guitar laden goodness.

Oh ya, welcome back dude. Haven't seen ya for a week or so. A couple peeps were wondering about ya.

Time will tell. I would say that Rick would be a a major contributer but then again he has had some flops in his day as well.

Metallica should have retired a couple CD's ago and saved themselves from making fools of themselves...

Can't remember a band that went from decent to **** so fast.

Its too bad that they didn't discover good guitar tone before their songwriting went to hell. Their stronger material was blemished by that godawful scooped-mid reverbless guitar tone.

You know, I haven't listened to Metallica for probably a decade now. I can't say that I derive much pleasure from hardcore music these days, but I might have to go find Kill 'Em All or And Justice For All and see how it's aged.

I thought their mixes had too much kick drum and not enough bass guitar. I still like Enter Sandman though.

The Black Album I still say is the only "professional" offering they ever had.

Other had some good songs, song writing, musicianship and whatnot, but none of them every sounded that polished...before or after...

Metallica fans rip me all you want, I'm still right.

HaHa I can't argue that. Tadpui made a good point I would of loved to hear Kill 'em all with a good mix and guitar tones.

Any guy who spent 10 years or more with Johnny Cash recording some of what I consider his best work is alright in my book.

And Def Jam Records, well the story speaks volumes about him.

Some of you my bash me for this but I think one of his greatest works was Linkin Parks Minutes to Midnight. The seamless voyage from song to song was perfect for that record.

And ya, I have to agree the Black Album would have been much better although it was still good it could have been much better produced and recorded.

Hey Tadpui, I recently repurchased "And Justice For All" for the same reasons you mentioned and I have to say that I can not stand the kick on that album. It was so over the top and out front that it took me right out of the experience. Just awful. I love the music, I always loved those epic length songs on that album but they sound terrible.
