What formats are you converting to/from? Or are you just changing mp3 bitrates?

DB,I tried google and everything I found was something I needed to pay for. People on this site sometimes link some good free downloads.

I just need to convert from wav. it is not for anything serious........i am currenlty writing new material with a new guitar player, we record the progress of new songs at the end of practice live, one room mic on kick snare and OH and one in the grill on the guitar cab. i just want to make mp3's of the rough mixes to be able to send to my guitar player to listen to over the week and make changes as needed. Sending wav. files sucks cause of the huge size.

If you are going from.wav to .mp3, or vice versa, you can use cdex. its free, its a little old, but ive use it for a long time and its perfect. you can even choose what bitrate you want to convert to. got to download.com and type in cdex.

i used to use audacity with the LAME codec. to be fair it took me a LOT of looking round to find something that did it for free.

Windows media player... the latest version (that comes with XP) can rip mp3's directly from cds, I suppose it could do it from a .wav file too?
