i'm pretty sold on Fostex T-40's for the studio musicians, but what about phones for mixing?? i bounce back and fourth alot between my 'ok' Sennheiser's and my monitors, but my phones are starting to crap out on me (gotta wiggle the wires to get them workin' sometimes)....i'm not too concerned with sound leaking out, i just want "accuracy" or as close to it as i can get. are there any cans that are known for this?

I thought sure there'd be all kinds of opinions on this one! I'm curious, too.

I like my Sennheisers alot (HD 212 Pro), but the best pair of headphones I ever had for mixing was a cheap pair of radio shack headphones they don't even make any more. I had a very expensive pair of Koss headphones back in the 80's that were great for lisening to music but sucked for mixing.

I think alot of the expensive ones tend to exaggerate various frequencys and the stereo field, where as the cheaper ones sound crappy, so if you get something sounding decent in them the mix sounds great on everything else, that's my theory any how. LOL

I love my AKG K 240 Moniters, I have 2 pair. Also like the Sony's (not the same as Walts) as well, but they are a bit louder and not as flat as my AKG's.

hmmm so i need to audition some Sony's MDR V900's against AKG K 240's....i'm pretty accustomed to listening on 'flat' systems now and 'non-flatness' is a big turn off to me now...i'm always tuning the bass down on friends home and car systems, i get the same "but i like the rumble" reply EVERY DOGDAMN TIME!!! ughhhh even my paraents tv has a stupid sub-woofer!
