Name the Band

You all did such a fine job picking out "Bad Martini" for Coco, I was hoping that you could help me. A few of the Cutaways, plus a few other guys, are playing music in the VIP area of Country Jam in July. We'll be playing mostly country music, some bluegrass, some folky tunes, and probably some acoustic rock. We don't get paid $$$, but we get free VIP passes for the weekend...a pretty sweet deal by my terms.

Anyway, I'm looking for a good name for an old-time country band. Needs to be humorous, yet tasteful. Could have the word "Boys" in it, or "Pickers" or "String Band" or any of those corny phrases that you hear associated with those old country bands on the Opry.

I know that this is out of the realm of most of you around here. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Jim

flatbottom begs for a longer name, i think, though. like a handful more words...

sylabbically, it should sound like this:

the flatbottom _____ _____, _____ _____ _____

or

the flatbottom ______ __ __, ______ __ __ ____

The Riverbottom Nightmare Band

The greatest name for a band, but it may still be copyrighted for the Emmit Otter Jugband X-mas special (circa '79 ?) .

Man, what a cool name !

I think we'll go with "Ditchweed Pickers". It's a great inside joke for those that know what ditchweed is, and people who might be offended by it probably won't know the difference!

Hue, whether or not you meant to, your concept album has started some wheels turning in my brain. (That's a dangerous thing!) That just might have to be my new project for 2005.

Urban Harvest by The Ditchweed Pickers

Can I use your album title?

Thanks for all of your great suggestions! I knew I could count on you folks to inspire me!

I saved up my pennies and nickels and emptied out my PayPal account on a Fender American Deluxe Telecaster. The color is candy tangerine, which wouldn't have been my first choice, but it's growing on me.

The Cutaways have a gig tonight and a gig tomorrow night, and another one next Saturday. The new Tele will defo get a good work out fo' sho'.
