I'm stirring up a hornets nest with this one . I have had a number of amp sims in the past few years, I even wrote an article a few years ago about them. My problem is my trust J-station which I love, is looking a little tattered from all my traveling and I'm going to need to an upgrade soon. I've had the POD 2.0 (things I liked but, liked my j-station better) I've also had the V-amp 2 (it was a good little sounding amp sim, but it was destroyed, don't ask) and I even had a Genesis for a brief time. Now a few years later I come to the same road I was at 3 years ago. I've heard good things from both PODxt users and V-amp Pro users, and I've heard the negatives. I'd add in the XT pro but I'm not going to drop the cash for better accessibility (and the Pod pro is out because it's 2.0 in a rack) . I like the A.I.R idea with the XT and a few of the upgrades . I like the rack and connectivity that the V-amp pro has . I've had hit and miss with Behringer ,80% of the time I'm thrilled with there gear , but I get a lemon sometimes (it happens) . Ultimately I'm going to try and compare both in the store and see what I like better , but I thought I'd see if anyone has done an a/b comparison.

Mar 12, 2005 07:24 am I love my XT Pro. Great sounds, great support with their apps like Line 6 edit and Line 6 monkey. connectivity is awesome, it's exandable with downloadable packages of additional models.
It rocks...I will say that Berry's Vamp is fine, it's got some good sounds and it's a great price point, but it in no comes close to stacking up against the POD in terms of range or quality of sounds.
Mar 12, 2005 11:31 am dude if it dosn't hafta be outboard, i'd check into NI's Ampfarm.....this thing is so hause, it comes with an external foot controler/interface!! for software, i've see first hand how sweet this progie is and i can't wait to own it. read up on it and you'll see what i mean.
peace

Mar 12, 2005 05:47 pm thanks for the replys guys.
db- I'd love to have an XT Pro but it comes to cost and quality at the same time, i may just save up and go for the Pro becuase I've heard that the regular XT isn't even 24 bit (rumor has it).
WYD - Ampfarm is something I've looked at for a few years but until they make it not Pro tools I'll wait on it (plus it cost as much as an xt anyway)
dan - I may check out the boss stuff, some of there ol stomp boxes were good and i have a friend the swears by boss .
It all comes down to my own ears, i'll see if gutar center will let me do a a/b comparison when i get home .

Mar 12, 2005 07:59 pm I'm now concidering a guitar port with all the updated and add on software ,it'll be the price of a regular 2.0 but with the amps of the vetta and xt . I don't play live so i don't need any floor board stuff like that, i like turning knobs and such but i've found myself enjoying software processors more and more.
Mar 12, 2005 10:24 pm what IS guitar port???

Mar 13, 2005 02:29 am Well it seems good thing do happen to thoughs who wait(procrastinate) , I was just asked to be a drummer in a band my friend has, and I said I'd gig with him when i get home,(I know you're asking what does this have to do with Amp sims?). Well my buddy just got endorsed by Line 6 , and all he wants is a stack but he's getting a few PODxt Pro's (one XT pro and bass XT) and is giving them to me, what a nice guy .
