Proper Monitor Placement

Hi!

As i'm sure some of you know, I own a pair of Behringer 2030A's. I have been looking into speakers stands and am wondering...Where should my ears be relevant to the speakers in terms of height? Right now when i sit my ears are above the speakers. I'm assuming they should be right in the middle in order for me to hit the sweet spot?

I'm also looking into putting something underneath them so that they're not in contact with the desk. Maybe i should look into some solid rubber stands that tilt them back a bit? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

EDIT: I only need to raise the speakers about 5 inches for my ears to be in the middle.

From what I've read, your monitors should be ear level, and pointing at you. That's all I got.

and make sure they make a perfect equillateral triangle with your head. meaning same distance between the two speakers as the distance from your head. yeah i'd tilt them back some too.

peace

The tilt is sort of dependent on the height of the speakers. Set them up tweeter-over-woofer, and make sure the tweeter is level with your ear, then tilting really is not necessary.

As far as not being in contact with the desk, yes good idea, I am currently designing a speaker isolation stand for desktop use, there are a few solutions alreayd out there though, most commonly used is acoustic-type foam. One method that can be done is as simple as the little felt stick-on feet that people put on the bottoms of the chair and table legs when on hardwood floors. That will minimize contact bwteen speaker and desktop to just a couple square inches rather than the entire speaker bottom.
