I am looking at the 150> Range. for the money, what is the best vocal compressor? Also, will a vocal compressor work for an acoustic guitar too?

I said what is the best because I figured given the nature of a compressor, there would in fact be a 'best'. didnt mean to iritate you.

you don't irritate me, just the word "best" irritates me after hearing it every day for 4 years of running the site, thats all.

There still is no best, some come with different feature, some have gates and limiters, some don't, different amounts of control and such stuff...that said, I like my dbx266xl a lot, I have had it for about 10 years and it's been great, in and out of clubs, falling of trucks, tossed around, and it keeps workin...

I have this

I really dont know much about compressor's to be honest but i record both my vocals and acoustic with this and it works a treat!

I'm sure there are heaps of others around but all things behringer seem to be cheap (and quality) for the price!

i dont work for them by the way :)

I agree about the RNC's reputation although I have no first-hand experience with it.

I like the looks of the Yamaha compressor that Musician's Friend has marked down to $130.

When I buy a compressor, this is the one that I'm going to go for.

call me cheap, but i love Behringers compressors, especially the tube compressor they have. (Behringer t1952). for $150, you get stereo tube compression.

I've got an RNC. It's very transparent and smooth sounding. Really accurate. I like it a lot, and it's really easy to carry around from place to place if you need to. I also own a Behringer Composer Pro and it has a ton more features. Yes, the sound quality is different, but I would not describe it as worse, necessarily. Seeing as it only costs around $100 it might be a better buy. Then again, the RNC is only $190 and has the reputation to back it up. Keep in mind that the RNC cannot be used as two separate channels, only as 1 mono or stereo compressor.

Tadpui...
I went to check that unit (GC2020C Compressor/Limiter) out and it's been discontinued :( ... looked nice, too. Kirk
