I use a SoundBlaster Audidy 2, because it was cheap, available in my area, does what I need it to do, sounds as good as most any thing I've heard so far, and at the time game usage was also high on the list.

I use an ESI Juli@ because it's a kick butt card, low latency, sounds awesome and has an optical output.

delta 44 for audio, because it has 4 ins and 4 outs, and is stable and high enough quality for what i need to do, and stock soundblaster type card for games and midi usage.

Lost for words with all to say.

M-Audio Delta 1010 and Aardvark 20/20+.....both with 10 ins and 10 outs. The Delta is superb of the two in my book. Love to try the ESI, looks like it has lower latency then the Delta.

I replaces my Delta (Audiophile, Delta series) with my ESI cuz my matency was HALF of what the Audiophile was. and even a great difference with WDM. ESI has the single most impressive WDM implementation I have personally ever seen.

Tascam USB 428.

Got it to use with a laptop. Things have changed sinse then, and I am now using it on the desk. Four in / Two out. The latency is decent. I really do dig the control surface from time to time. Fun to work with, although I do sometimes wish I had went a little higher in the food chain and got motorized faders. Changing banks of faders and manualy calibrating the faders can be a pain.

If you are looking for a sound card, you first have to know how many ins and outs you will need at any one time, from there you can decifer more useful information from users that work in similar situations.

Aardvark Q10 ... I may be switching to something that works in linux when I get the money. That depends on a lot of things though :)

just a thought on the m-audio, didn't they just get bought out by somebody?

that might have an impact on their support in the future (better or worse?)

on the plus side, the price on the 1010lt went down 50$

Indeed, and that is why I am switching to ESI as well. I have their Waveterminal 192M in and am loving it. On my old baox it is running ar 2.9ms of latency and that is absolutely amazing. The card is 4 in 8 out with one channel of optical out and one channel s/pdif i/o on the main card and an optical i/o and midi i/o on the daughter card. Nice price as well.
