Chat room?

I have been in the chat room several times and I was wondering if there were any times that were set aside for events in there. That is (and this is my psychological analysis of of the situation) unless everyone is too used to postings that they are uncomfortable to talk to each other in a chat, i would understand on that end.

Events in chat would help newbies get a quicker handle on things and quicker answers to their questions. It would also be able to create a closer community, although i know it is pretty dang close as is.

I also know that there are time constraints on many here, but we all the same amount of time in a day, and we all know how to plan, so what sayz everyone? should we set up times for all to chat, or is that something everyone already does that I have been blind to as is?

If there are enough that commit to it we could set up a time for a few weeks from now, or even in the next week.

I would love to volunteer to set it all up and host (be there to start it all off that is) a chat, but I am only running at 28.8 right now till I am done moving. If nessisary I could do it from a friends but I need scheduling time. (like I mentioned before I know and understand that there are time restraints.)

let me know what ya think, and let me know if it has been tried before.

well, I used to schedule events but that was a LONG time ago. Noize2u and I have talked about scheduling events (typically over a few beers so, well, yaknow...) but thus far nothing has come of it...it IS a good idea, I think the community is big enough now to support it...maybe noize will see this and get back on it :)

I'm usually in the chat room for a few minutes each time I log on, to make sure that everyone is playing nice... but I never see anyone else there

Yeah, I've been in on a small handful of good chats, but not many. Well, I was always against having a chatroom at all, but ya know why I added it? Because YOU, the HRC membership, asked for one many times. So there, I got one for ya.

Now use it, damnit! :-)

I pop in there from time to time to talk to myself... you know, just type-up some 3am, caffine-fueled rant 'bout nothing in particular . I've only been caught once . heh heh

I like the fact that no-one is ever in there, I find it quite peaceful... it's hard to get that kind of solitude these days... sometimes I will stay in there for ages

I just came out of the chatroom. Nice bunch of folks there! Coco and BoysMum...except it's already like tomorrow afternoon in New Zealand. That's weird.

OK, I have sent out 2 emails to try and set up a time and day for a guest apperance in the chat room. Subject to be determined, but one of them would defo revolve around Cakewalk/Sonar, Project 5 and Kinetic. Basically any Cakewalk product would be up for discussion.

The other I am aiming towards a midi discussion. It would cover from beginner to expert and also how it applies to not only our synths but the Effects we use as well.

What was equally wierd was that it was mid-week and both dB and Coco were having a beer at lunch time (my time).

But the chat facility is a great idea...and so is having special guests...

You guys are...amazing!

Cheers :-)

Good idea tho...

BM That's a bit of luck, coz I think I was dribbling in me sleep. You're right, I think I would have woken up for sure if coco was in there heh.

Don't you think the chatroom would be a great idea for a book? You guys are all such characters. It would be like a hip, smoke filled cafe with people coming and going at different times of the day depending on which country they live in. Except dB of course who never seems to sleep. I see him as the man behind the counter, always there, observing and knowing everything that goes on, rescuing people when their topics of conversation go slightly astray. Always polishing glasses or making the coffee machine emit that frothing sound, as he readies himself another expresso... heh heh... Sorry about the blue and white sriped apron I imagine you wearing dB

Lol DSD...

Sounds like you've already written the book DSD...you might want to consider moving straight to the tv serial...but I'd have to have someone else playing me, bcos I'm not actually that hip.

Blue and white striped apron? hehehe

BM

You'd have to be there for sure BM, you'd be the one who, when I wake up to find my tea had gone cold, again, would have left me a flask full of the steaming brown liquid that I could be sure was hot always. And possibly even left me a buscuit or two. hehe

Y'know that Coco was right...most people at HRC are probably quite true to themselves...hehe

I bet you say that to all the girls, DSD... :-)

Aah dB...cute...but whats that they say about he who laughs last, laughs hardest?

I would say HRC is going to provide the platform to do just that...for you...

And we'll all be laughing then...well...in between hitting you up for a loan...hehehe.

Aye...and I am a little closer to tommorow than everyone else! hehehe...

So we have:

You dudes in the US in today and yesterday at some points where BM is in Tommorow most of the time and I am 6 hours ahead of the US so I am both.

But, the crux and most vital bit - I will have my New Year drinks, celebration, a good Hogmanay party before you dudes even start! Great! But, the downside...I'll have a hangover first :-(

Still...good old world time difference. Fun huh!

Coco.

Well coco, if I take the day off, and I think I do have it off. I can start at the same time you do. Then I will have the same hangover you do.

I just had a bizare idea. We could have a newyears eve chat room marathon. But I would probly be the only one in there as I am probly the only one without a real life outside the studio, and daytime job. :-(

But I guess that isnt all bad.

Sorry to rain on your parade Noize...but you might not be the only one without a real life...

But the New Years party sounds like a great idea...I mean for all those people...you know...who don't have a real life...ahem...

Cheers and hehehe!

I thinks, that typing on a keyboard for me on Hogonay (Scots word for New Year) will be rather awkward (due to treble vision I'll be havin by then!).

I dunno what the plan is this year, Ive been to parties in Edinburgh city centre (the world famous street party with 250,000-500,000 folk) to house parties, club parties and a couple of years ago, a party in the Highlands!!!

This year (SHOCK HORROR) there may be NAE party for me as I now have a 3yr old and a (waht will be) an 8 month old - so...we'll see. Dunno what'll happen. If I Am here, I'll sure as hell pop up and wish ya all a happy new year, tho I feel it might just be belated i.e. the next day for me!! :-) ...

Well, Noize, considering everybody's new year is at a different time...

Life would be so much easier if everybody would live by Central Standard Time and speak English like normal people ;-)

Yeah, but then we'd ALL sound like Willie the Groundskeeper...can't have that, i'd make Willie less unique, and that would be a shame.

OR we could all set our clocks to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/ and go by that clock. :-)

And gotta agree with dB, it would be ashame indeed if we all sounded like Willie.

And flame, arent you pretty close to Greenwich?

Naw, oor clocks go back next week!!

Rubbish!!! That means I get an extra oor in bed - aye - except the KIDS still wake up at the same time which means I'll be up an HOUR early every day after that til next Summer! RUBBISHHH!

Coco.

P.S. Whats wrong wi Willie by the way!! Also, if you were like me, you'd sound more like Begbie fi Trainspotting rather than Willie!!

Aye, I dont think I have ever heard anybody that does sound like Willie which is what makes him so funny (I would hate to meet anyone who sounded like Willie - that would do my head in something chronic!!) But, aye, you are right - who wants to sound like everyone else!!

That would be a real boring world for sure....
