Good news. This place is a great resource for the recording community. I know how tough it is to run a website of this size and believe me folks, you should all be grateful. Congrats!

I just need everybody to understand something, the site is still on life-support. Here is the deal...I am not broke personally, but like any smart business person, each little endevour has it's own bankroll and it's own accountability. The site is broke, hosting costs and time have been coming out of dB Masters' bankroll since early this year.

Now I hate to sound like some sort of extortionist, but I will just ask, once more that if you do plan to buy gear, books, magazines or whatever, please do so through links from this website if you can (some folks can't because of shipping to other countries and such, I understand that) to help bring some commissions to support the website.

It was the decision of mine, not as a community member or admin, but as a businessman, that HRC has to get off of dB Masters Bankroll.

This is currently a tough economy, we all know that, many are unemployed, many dotcom's have fallen by the wayside for the exact same reason HRC almost did.

Ultimately it's up to all of us to keep it going.

Believe it or not, dB Masters buys gear through MF to help support the site, PigPen Studio (Noize2u's studio) has as well, I would hope anyone else that can will to. As a business, dB Masters has to stop supporting it.

I put it back up in hopes it willonce again support itself the way it did in the past. If it wasn't for great sponsors like PowerFX, in the past Digimpro and others, it would have come to closing much sooner than this week.

Don't misunderstand, I have no belief or intention of making money from this site (thought hat would be cool), but I do expect it to fund itself.

I am glad everyone is happy, actually I am too, now let's just see if we can keep this from happening again.

And just so everyone knows, the emails I shared with Gus yesterday spoke volumes to me, not to belittle everyone else's opinions and input, but Gus and I connected on a very primitive level that really spoke to me...thanks Gus.

God, a few day ago i came on and boom! that message was there, i just want to say how much it scared me. this site is not only a wonderful resource for recording tips and knowledge, but its the one place where i feel like, its just real people doing something they love for other people of like mind. its really something true on the net as opposed to all that extortionist stuff out there.
i really cant do much to support ur site financially, but just count on my vote for anything that can help this site!!!

dB forever!!!!

Amen!
hey dB, is the reason this forums link isn`t on the DB Masters home page anymore because your business is not supporting it financially so you don`t want it associated with your business? Or something like that?

Just a wonderin`

Mostly because when I took it down I took it out of all the links on the business site, now I don't know if I will change them back or not...I also took all the links off of these pages that point back to dB Masters as well.

dB Masters is still the primary sponsor of the site, as I am the sole developer and architect but I don't want to give the impression it is the sole sponsor, cuz it's not.

You may also see a little face-lift in the near future changing the look as well...but I am in no rush...I am on vacation...

Thanks for your emails Mitch, you were another big player in making me change my mind...

Well, hows this for ironic. Today I got a care package direct from Microsoft...Windows 2000 Server, SQL Server 2000 database, Exchange 2000 mail server, bizTalk 2000, .NET Developer Studio and a bunch of other stuff and got invited to get motor-coached to Fargo North Dakota(5 hours or so), put up in a hotel for 3 days and fed for three days to attend a Microsoft .NET conference and meet Bill Gates...fully paid for by Microsoft.

I have enough software here to start my own fully database driven web and mail server...too bad I don't wanna run on Windows, and even more too bad that next week I am in IIS training and can't go to Fargo.

Oh well, still kinda odd timing of the whole thing...God has an unusually sense of humor sometimes :-)

True dB. Good things happen to good people. BTW I always got the feeling from your sites that you were a die heart Linux (unix) person.

I know about the "no windoze" server thing...my logs on my linux box still get the automated virus attack targeting winNT servers default.ida file every morning at 5:45 (or so)... You'd think the owners of those computers would notice after a year that the computer is always busy grinding away...

Ya, I am a *nix-type of guy at heart. I am actually very fluent in Windows scripting such as ASP, VBScript and stuff like that and I know Windows servers quite well, as I use them at my "real job", plus I am starting to work with .NET, but my personal stuff and home-business stuff will stay on *nix/PHP/Apache/MySQL...open-source forever! Stable, cheap and well supported. This site actually runs on RedHat/PHP/Apache/MySQL as do all my clients sites...except one...geez I wish they would let me move them...ARGH!

That is why on my customer support site I submit so many of my scripts to the open-source community...gotta give something back.

well you pay hundreds of dollars more for windoze so it as to be better, right? :)

...had some problems downloading the new version of slackware so I bought the CD set...and after a bit of frustration trying to get the floppy and CD rom to work again (had it in a different PC) I'm cruseing right along installing it as I type...as fast as a P200MMX will go... and suprise! suprise! it came with MySQL
