i was wondering if anyone knows of a piece of kit that is a handheld mobile digital recorder. i am looking for something to use to capture 'moments of inspiration' with reasonable quality in a format such as .wav that i can import into cubase to mess around with as a sample. reasonablelength recording time and cheapness would also help. haha

cheers

hmmm, my friend has something that is a mp3 player and digital recorder. Works pretty well, but don't know who makes it or what's it called. It's easily concealed in your hand. Makes it good for recording people when they don't know it.

Magratt, I use a tape recorder. When the tape's full, I plug the headphone jack into my mixer and then dump the audio on hard drive. It may not be quite what you had in mind, but my way cost me $30 at Radio Shack and it does the same thing. The only thing different is sound quality - and who cares, this is for raw ideas, right? - and the fact that I have to dump the audio.

zoom has a $200 digital 4-track. About the size of a PDA.

Lol, flame ;) It's still 2 completely independent tracks, in, out, and recorded, so 'stereo' doesn't have to be involved at all ;) I wish manufacturers would follow specifics like that, so folks didn't get so easily confused.

Stereo means 2 track, but 2 tracks doesn't mean stereo, blah blah blah, don't you love symantics?
