After research and lot's of different people's opinions, I have decided to buy a Behringer. I have narrowed my choices down between the MX2442A Eurodesk Mixer or the MX3282A Eurodesk . Both seem to be great mixers so my choice is going to be tuff. I will be using the mixer I choose for live gigs and home recording. What do you guys think?

More channels is never a bad thing - I had the 3282a for a while and it was fine, no problems with the build or useage - I just never really used it properly (and the preamps.... ahh you know ;)

I have the mx602a as well, and like it a lot, but I'm starting to feel the need to ditch those pres and move up to something tube-based. I use it as a front end to my sound card, right to digital, and the sound is clear but cold. But other than that, it's a great little unit, and I've heard it's built like the bigger ones, except on a smaller scale - so if the quality is consistent or better on the larger models, I'd say go for it. :)

Hey you know, if you go with the 24 you have a little capital left there, you can always add a submixer later if you really need the extra inputs... I dunno, the thought had occurred to me...

Yeah, if funds permit, I would always go for the extra channels.

Things to consider. Do you need 4 buss or 8 buss? Do you need 24 or 32 input channels? And lastly, if you buy the bigger board as jues stated, you will be able to grow into it if it is bigger then you need now.

My feeling is the 3282 will give you more options to be used both live and for recording. And moer options is always good.

Very much depends on what you are planning to do. My advice is to put yourself through a few "mock" scenerios of recording and see what you come up with. For me personally it is very rare that I use stereo imputs. I find them frustrating for the most part. I have used them on for electronic drum sets and a few keyboards, although I would have rather used to mono channels on all occasions. Outputs are my concern. I have a 24 channel recorder which brought me to the MX9000 with direct outs for each channel. I really don't use my mixer as a mixer. I use it as an input channel bank that has monitering capabalities. Of course 99% of my recording is of live instruments. I also know me. There is no way that I could create a mix during recording. What I mean here is that with either a four or eight buss system, I would have to mix some of the recording on the spot. I get too wrapped up in the performance and lost in what I want to hear to be any good at that. I always come home do a rough mix. Listen to it for a week or two and let the excitement wear down, then I start hearing the imprafectons. At that point if anything where "pre-mixed" I would be in trouble.

You have picked two very nice mixers. Intrinsically either would be a very good choice. Down to what you plan to do with them!

I need at least 24 channels; we're going to have nine mics on the drum set, three vocal mics, two guitar amps, one bass amp, and eventually some minor percussion and keyboards. I plan on buying an M audio card (I haven't decided which one yet, but it's got to have at least 8-10 inputs). I work at a radio station, so I'm going to master the audio there (bose monitors). My computer stats: 1.8ghz amd athlon 2200xp processor, 250gb hd, 768mb of pc2100 ram, windows xp, cakewalk, soundforge, and adobe audition. Given the setup, which mixer and m audio card would be best?

From what you've said, I would get the behringer MX3282a - it's not that much more expensive than the 24 channel model, and will give you 8 AUX sends (which you will need to feed on stage monitors and FX units) as well as 8 bus groups which will be very useful for recording.

If you want to record 8-10 inputs simultaneously you will want to get hold of an M-Audio Delta 1010 - this will offer you 10 inputs with the use of an Analouge to Digital Convertor - failing that you could chain it with a Delta 44 which would give you 12 analouge inputs whilst maintaining an open digital input.

I totally agree with jues on that set-up.
