quick question about track volume

I was just wondering if someone can remind me which feature on Sound Forge 6.0 allows you to set the overall track volumes of different tracks so that they are consistent throughout a c.d. In other words so there are no noticeable jumps in volume from track to track on a c.d.
-Thanks

Sound Forge was always a mastering tool.

And the fader you are looking for should be labelled something like "master volume". But remember, but remember, don't go by the volume labels or the LED, mastering is all about percieved volume...

Sounds like you need to employ the use of a compressor / limiter to set all your tracks to the same volume.

Failing that, you could perform a normalise on all your tracks, but this will only address the 'peak' volume of the tracks.

Oh, and I just remembered, there is an option in SoundForge to normalise the tracks using an RMS value - this operates in a similar manner to a compressor / limiter - but the results are not exactly transparent.

If you want a great mastering compressor / limiter - look into "Waves UltraMaximizer" - slightly pricey, but it will allow you to achieve proffesional results very easily.

jues.

The UltraMaimizer is what I use almost exclusively now. I rarely ever normalize.
