I just wanted to share a little bit of personal joy...I have a dumpy little pawn shop close to where I work and I stop in once a week or so and see what's new...over a few weeks I saw this guitar sitting there...a lower end model BC Rich Trace Warbeast...played it a few times, played nice, sounded good and all that...looked banged up and only has five strings on it in the store, but also has a nice, soft, leather strap on it.
Over the weekend I went in with my daughter and took a look at it more closely...some of the dings on it were just paint scuffs that were easily taken care of with spit and a fingernail...I talked them down to $120, plus, they threw in a really nice set (really nice) of unopened, in the box earbuds for my daughter for her iPod that she asked about while I was haggling on the guitar.
I took it home, took the strings off, polished it up a bit, tuned 'er up and rocked out for an hour or so...neck is nice and straight, low, lose action, nice dirt in the sound...
Obviously it's no golden pawn shop score, but for $120, I'm ecstatic! And the kid got some new earbuds...and they sound really good too...now if I could get her to use them on something besides Justin Bieber and the like.

Mar 08, 2011 09:54 am my step-daughter is slowly drifting, she's gone from owl city, to bieber, and she'll admit publicly she likes clutch now....haha and between icarley, jonas bros, and that's so raven....ugh i really really wanna cancel netflix....i miss the good 'ole days of no tv in my house...i thought netflix/hulu was plenty...now i'm thinkin' it's too much! haha.
but i digress....congrats to the good score...careful not to poke yer eye out with that thing....hows the comfort when playin' while sitting? seems that's the one nice round curve and looks quite comfy if balanced well.
Mar 08, 2011 10:06 am It's kind of weird, the upper part does cut into my side a little bit, as, unlike the Warlock, which is smooth on the inside edges of the body, this one has more points...it's not too bad though...and it'll look cool hanging on my forthcoming guitar wall in my basement!
The balance, I am surprised, it's better balanced than an old Warlock I had, not nearly as top-heavy, but still a little bit.
My daughter has some good taste, she does the beiber/jonas type thing, but she digs my music too...so she's alright.

Mar 08, 2011 12:07 pm Congrats dB! Even if you dont get much use out of it, pretty hard to find decent artwork for $120!
Time to rock out some Maiden!

Mar 08, 2011 07:06 pm Cool find Deebs!
I had a BCR for a while... nice guitars, even the less expensive ones are quite playable.
Mar 09, 2011 08:10 am Yeah, it's in very good shape in that regard, neck is nice, unfinished on the back, just how I like it, rosewood fretboard, nice and low and loose action...I'm surprised for the price. Sounds good too, not sure what pickups are in it, but they have the BC Rich signature on them and they sound hot...though I may hev to swap with the Q-Tuners from my Washburn, cuz those Q-Tuners kick ***.

Mar 10, 2011 02:51 am Damn, even though I haven't a clue what to do with a guitar, I'm still jealous.
