Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your comrads. Hell, I'd go with you on this one if they would let an old fart. I've been in that neck of the woods and met a lot of wonderfull people there. Hate to see them suffering under the current government,

I'm back to HRC and man I see some changes . I like what you've done with the place DB, noize and Blue . I'm not back at home , and will not be for some time , i just thought i'd drop a line being that this is the first time i've been able to get any Com. Things are well , as they can be Tallil Iraq is ..... not on my top 10 "to visit " spots. For all the happy peace loving people at this forum I'd like to say as one of you ( a member of this kick *** site ) we are doing a humanitarian mission now , food , clothing ( better food than we are getting too) and medical attention to the people here , it's a real big trip and a half , i feel lie i'm part of something good now and that's the truth . The living conditions are not the best by far , we just got shower tents in about 2 weeks ago and that was the best thing , but this place is being buit up faster than anything , we even , get this have buger king comming ,the only war i see is a franchise war starting hahaha. As i said in the past i'd keep you posted when i could and i wouldn't BS anyone , Iraq is still in a terrible state , it's broken and the people are , we still get pot shots fired at us , nothing big , the land is full of wrecks mainly from 1991 , and it's hot , very hot . all i can say is there is nothing like spending your summer in a 3rd world country !!! I could go for a beer :)

Geoff,

As odd as it sounds, I am very happy to hear that you where able to experience that. I was up in Kahasakstan just about the time of it's inception and it broudened my perspective of peoples greatly. It's a little odd to me, but I am not able to share the impact of the experience with anyone here at home. My words are absorbed as tripe and common knowledge, but the response I get is that nothing was absorbed at all. Oh well, nothing serious. Welcome back! Have a beer for me!

PS: Burger King has gotton no better in your absence!

Well, today is my birthday, I planned to hoist a couple tonight with my wife and later this week with Noize, and we will surely hoist a couple for you :-)

It is seriously very good to hear from you, Noize and I were talking about you the other day hoping things were OK. Glad to hear you are in humanitarian mode vs. bombing and fighting mode. Tho in major disarray, it sounds like it had to get worse before it gets better. I hate listening to the network news because we all know full well it is a very tainted broadcast.

Just remember, there are many of us back here supporting you and your mission.

Godspeed, friend, keep the faith, we are waiting to welcome you home with open arms and cold beer :-)

Here here! It's great to hear from you Geoff! We'll all be even more glad to hear that you're back in the comforts of your own home and in the midst of your family and friends. But until then, your in our hearts and minds. You've got a tough job and I'm very thankful that we have people like you willing to go get it done. Take care.

Indeed good to hear form ya Geoff. Glad you got some showers in now, I guess. And it is good to hear things arent getting any worse. Burger King? Now that will be kinda funny, I wonder if they will be making em with ground goat? And sorry to hear you arent getting the best food service over there.

But as dB said, I believe we will swill a couple for ya this week. So in parting, keep the sand outa yer drawers and may ya git back here soon.

Peace

the love , the support ..ahhh...I almost shed a tear in my MRE ( walt can explain hahaha) . It's good to be back online doing stuff again . Happy B day DB ( late as it maybe). If you are having a few have a Sam Adames for me . Hay walt I can understand , I have a few stories of my travels from Sadi to Uzbek and pakistan and what people listen to is taken as just stories . As I said I'd do a bit of reporting for HRC and here it is : at tallil AB it's kindA slow , this place is growing by the #'s and looks to be here for a while , rumor has it they are slowly bugging out of saudi (Prince sultan AB) and that has been around for about 10 years . They are closing down a few places out here and settling down in more of a central area ( news might say that) . We treated about 50 Iraquis the other day for minor and major health issues , they flew in from Kwait and had to sit on the plane for 4 hrs because the plane had problems and the kwait government wouldn't let them out of the c-130 , as i said a few of them had major problems and after they arrived here one man had heart falure and died due to many issues , if they would have treated him @ Kwait city he might have lived . So far that has been the only loss since I've been here a few troops have gone home because of burns or broken bones , mainly due to stupidity not war . There are lot's on UXO's (unexploded ordinance) laying about around here and tons of bnuilding damage from 91-september of 02 ( yeah they stopped bombing this place only 6 months before we came here ) . I'm out have a few beer , relax enjoy your selfs , keep playing and stop and just take a break for a min , look up at the sky or at a park full of kids and remember ( this is great if you're having a bad day) lifes not so bad , we have it good for the most part .

Hey! Tillil...thats where I was supposed to go. Our mission was cancelled five hours after we got it on April 22 and now we're still sitting here at Fort Campbell. (we run interment and resettlement camps) We just got a demob order and it looks like we'll be back home in time for memorial day... though they are basically telling us to enjoy the six months off and be ready to go to cuba in january... Atleast I should have my commission by then. :)

Although the last beer that night was something else, not as stout, but a heavy bitter taste. i ran em out of Killians, and I cant remember what the hack it was called as it was the last beer of the night.

heh, I just finished Unit Prevention Leader certification and was identified (as was almost everyone else) as having tendencies of a phase 4 alcoholic ... makes you feel confident to know that alcoholics are administering the drug tests :)

YaY! we finally got a demob date, the 21st of this month is when we're due back home...though we are staying on active duty until the 29th and working out of the reserve center.

... and heh no we arn't liberating cuba (yet) ...and it does seem like everyone is kicking everyone elses diplomats out reciently.

Zek enjoy your time at home man , are you in the Army Reserves by chance just wondering . As far as me it looks like the AF is going to keep me here until october and then i get a whole week off then back to work . I'm givin my 2 weeks .

yep, I'm the Legal NCO for a reserve Military Police Battalion (Internment/Resettlement). They are still sending some MP units over though as we lost 30 people to various other units in the past few days. All volunteer stuff though...as the unit is trying to retain people so it can redeploy later...sence we've had people on stoploss sence last august :)

stoploss , now that's the mother of all bad words , it's odd we haven't seen it happen to our job , it happens about every summer regardless of Afaganistan or Iraq . Oh well it's all good , I'm gald you got to stay home , there is not much the MP's do around here , most of em are board and don't have a job , because the SP's are the primarys now that this is an Air base , so hopefuly they'll get to go home because I know some of em have been out here a bit . I'm done in a few years anyway 10 years is about all i'll give , it's been a fun and interesting time .
