There once was a team called the Giants.

They looked at the Eagles with defiance.

The Giants tried to run.

The Eagles took them apart just for fun.

And now we go on to the Cardinals!!!

Fly Eagles Fly!

Looks as if Pittsburgh is going to win over the chargers.

Could this be a Pennsylvania Super Bowl?

Baltimore/Pittsburgh will be a good game.

WTF is up with Arizona? WOW, they certainly are peaking at the right time.

Don't know. I just hope that the Eagles can get through that game.

i thought steelers v giants might be a more significant super bowl. eagles to me seemed to come out of nowhere this year. not sure how to appreciate them.

steelers gotta get past ravens first though, which is not necessarily easy

The stars and the planets aligned for the Eagles this season.

I thought the whole season was a total loss. But then Chicago lost, then Tampa Bay. All of the sudden we're in the playoffs.

And now they are kicking ***. Where was my team at the beginning of the year?

Well, as long as they are back, I hope they keep winning.

To have the Phillies win the world series, and the Eagles in the Super Bowl, Philly will go nuts!

congrats to the eagles, i saw highlights and now i think it would be a good SB.

nervous about the ravens, though. gah.

here's the 1979 super steelers polka, the main steelers fight song from when i was in like kindergarten. pretty catchy.

Just hope it's a good nuts and not a bad nuts...

San Diego just had their wheels come off, they couldn't do anything against the Steelers at all...

Yeah it didn't help the Bolts that they only ran 1 offensive play in the 3rd quarter. Freaking wow...

But how about those Cardinals? The Cards in the NFC Championship game? Did any of us who have been NFL fans for any length of time think we'd EVER see this? With home field advantage no less?!? I can't help but root for the Cards. I just love it when awful, horrible, no-good teams come together and do well. It gives me a bit of hope for the Chiefs' future :)

How long until we see a Detroit vs. San Fran NFC championship game?

Forty, I bet you had to cross your legs a few times to hide your Big Ben Boner during that game. He had a good all-around game, all things considered. I liked that block he threw on the reverse in the 3rd or 4th quarter.

yeah, that third quarter was a total bust...one play and it was picked...jeezuz.

Ben did look good...on the whole he's still over rated, but damn he had a great game, some of his targets made it good for him tho...

Same with the Cardinals, Larry Fitzgerald was friggin on fire, made Warner look real good.

I hope that it's a good nuts as well! Everyone around here is saying that it seems that the curse of Billy Penn has finally been lifted.

The Curse is about the tall buildings in Philly. For years, you were not allowed to have a building exceed the height of William Penn's hat that sits atop of City Hall. Once they allowed a building to exceed that, Philly did not win any championships at all. So, for the new Comcast building, they put a small replica of his statue on top of it.

Now I don't believe in silly superstitions. But, I have to admit, once they did that, the Soul won, and the Phillies. And now the Eagles are coming out of nowhere. Maybe there something to it? I don't know. I would just like to see a Pittsburgh Philadelphia Super Bowl.

That's interesting...

Stupid, but interesting...I was watching a Nostradamus show about "2012" this weekend, equally stupid but interesting.

People are funny creatures, it's like at a certain point, people's own superstitions actually impose the will of it.

I had a serious Friday the 13th phobia (tristadecaphobia I believe it's called) and extensive history including car accidents, court, and loads of stuff, once I quit dwelling on it, it stopped.

I'm in full agreement on how stupid that is. But, I also know where it stems from.

Most Philadelphians have this sever inferiority complex to New York. Due to our close proximity. They feel that we are the redheaded step child for them.

Instead of just admitting that New York had a good season, or just played better then us. No, it's has to be something else that caused this. New York can't be better then us. We are just cursed! That's what it must be.

Never mind the fact that whatever team we had playing at the time, was playing like crap that day. It can't be the players fault. No it must be something more sinister!

It's like the Cubs. And that poor guy that pulled the ball out of the out fielders glove that time. OH NO! The curse of the Cubs continues! Philly is no different.

But, for you dB. Being a Mason, I can see why you would have a Friday the 13th phobia of a while. And historically Friday the 13th lived up to it's rep. But, I think you nailed it on the head with the fact that people just dwell on these facts. Making them seem as if they are real. When studies proofed that no more atrocities happened on Friday the 13th then any other given date. I think for most, that lifted their fear.

hahaha, yeah, there is some masonic/templar/illuminati type references to that day, I hadn't really considered them since my history is well before I became a Mason, but yes, good point on that.

I am laying pretty good odds we could drum up some horrible stuff on Wednesday the 11th as well, but eh... :-)

It is funny how people get all worked up, and honestly, it is fun to put on the ol' tin foil hat every now and then.

OK Rob, so what can we blame the Queens miss-fortune on then? There has to be something we can peg all the losing on.

Anyway, I guess I would like to see Philly in the SB as well. I'm not a huge fan of any of the remainder's at the moment. And I'm a sucker for seeing the underdog go for it.

Uhmmmm, lets see. What can we blame for the Queens loss.

How about we come up with the curse of the snow. Every time it snows during a Vikings playoff game, it will cause them to lose.

That might work. That's just dumb enough to have people believe in it. Even thou they are a dome team.

And the only way to break the curse will be to have every single person in attendance to wear a symbol of the sun on their clothing. The players and coaches as well.

How much you want to bet, that if you start this alleged curse. That the next playoff game that it is snowing. You will see some people wearing a sun symbol. That would be funny!

And yeah. I'm really feeling the Pittsburgh Philly SB.

rob is more confident in the steelers than i am, looks like. i cannot imagine the upcoming game in any sort of clarity at all. if everyone plays their best, i know pitt will definitely beat the ravens. but if anything weird and psychological is at work in this game at all, then all bets are off. so much comes down to that sort of thing.

Has a rookie QB (like the Ravens have) ever made it to the Super Bowl? (Big Ben was in his 2nd year when they won it, right?)

I think Big Ben was a rookie. There have been a few, but the list isn't long.

big ben in his rookie year started 13 games in the regular season and won them all. (the steelers were 15-1 that year). he then won one playoff game and fell to the pats in the next one. the next year was the super bowl.

flacco had some regular season losses but has won two playoff games, first time a rookie has done so

The Steelers have given us a good run for our money in the past. Matter of fact, I think we have only won twice against them in the regular season before.

If, and only if, the Eagles play up to the level that they have been. Then I think it would be a close and well played game. A Super Bowl worth watching.

Other wise,it's just a blow out. Not all that fun to watch. Except if it's your team beating up the other.

I think that the Steelers are playing well this year. They should be able to beat Baltimore. That might be a good game to watch. With a close score.

As long as Ben stays healthy. I think they will win.

Thanx Rob, now I just need to find an outlet to start this rumor/superstition with.

Reading a bit this morning. I'm gonna go out on a limb and take the Eagles to go all the way.

that would be such a sad day. mcnabb's reputation has become him--who cares about that guy other than philly fans?

i'd root for any team over the eagles--and i'm from pennsylvania. i just don't see anything worth caring about there. a victory over the eagles--by anyone--is a victory over mediocrity, bad team colors, lame animal totem, etc etc.

edit: the animal totem 'eagle' does not even go with green and white. fail, eastern PA.

well, at least forty doesn't have a strong opinion on the subject...

I kinda like the Eagles actually...McNabb is kind of stupid, but still...and for the record, purple doesn't go with nordic vikings either, nor does blue and white go with a cowboy or colt...so, well...

purple is a not-bad color, though. at least. i think green and white is the worst color combo in sports. this might be one reason why the jets, eagles, and seahawks underwhelm me.

philly should be back, red, and white. philly is a historically important city, but they picked lackluster colors.

dallas colors seem to work. they're dull, but they dont piss me off.

green and white for me is like a matador's cape. the colors project dullness, winter, weakness, i dunno.

also mcnabb just kind of is generally borin(edit)g

Forty the fashion designer. In a heterosexual way.

Well, the whole McNabb saga is a long one with the fans. We booed when he was drafted. We booed when when he was seriously injured on the field. We booed every time he made a failed pass. And we called for his termination for the past three years.

Philly only loves him when he does what he was drafted for. Which is not that often. This is why I did not think that we would get by the Giants.

But, come on! The colors? That's your big hang up on the Eagles? The freakin colors? Yeah, I agree, what does green and white have to do with an eagle. Unless he lives near a nuclear power plant. But, then I would think that it would be a glowing green. But, dude! To knock a team because of the colors, that's just a little harsh.

You wanted to see the eagles in Red and White, and then knock the Cardinals for it. What's up with that?

I mean really, what does Red and Blue have to do with giants? Or Blue and Gold for the Rams and Chargers.

Pick on McNabb. That's what we do. The colors only have to do with the field. The green grass and the white lines. That's all, nothing more then that.

And what do have against the bird? What did he ever do to you man? He's just a poor little symbol of our country. He don't mean no harm. I never heard him say anything bad against you. Don't pick on the poor little killer bird of prey. You just might hurt his feelings. And it will take us around 2 or more years to get him back into shape.

hahahaha, yeah, my dog already ripped apart the Michael Vick Chew Toy I got her over the summer...cheap *** toy...I doubt the leftie base of MN would like that guy, hell, I'm a rightie and I don't.

It's obvious the Vikings have one thing they really need to do to get to the next level, and that's a QB upgrade...McNabb comes up a lot.

Of course Leslie Frazier maybe leaving the defensive coordinator position will hurt too...but still...

no, i think red and white are fine as long as there's black in there too. those colors seem to go together pretty well, but only when the black is prominent. i think.

haha well i still don't understand my violation. i was talking about team colors, a valid topic of conversation.

now i got some beers and i wanna start a little moment in the hrc living room here...

hey, did anyone notice the steelers are in the AFC championship yet again? haha. i came up a theory today: db, my good pal db, will not grant QBs elite status unless they stand in the pocket, never get sacked, and throw tv-ready long bombs for touchdowns.

hehe just kidding, db. i hope that this weekend proves that there's merit in the scramble-and-win, because that's what pitt has had to do, and whatever you have to do is the name of the game, right? let's start awarding points for sloppy wins cuz the steelers will need one against tough baltimore--it won't happen any other way if it happens at all

You and I simply have values of the word "elite". If Big Ben is elite, that would mean many current QB's are, and that, thereby waters down the value of "elite".

Ben, and many others currently, are good, even great, but I dunno of many that are elite...elite is a career long thing...
