That is to say, I've graduated from being boyfriend to being husband-to-be. No set date yet, but I think we're gonna shoot for sometime next fall, since (edited) that's the season we started dating in, and it's also around the time of her birthday. In other words, easy to remember anniversary date ;)

Wish me luck. I held out as long as I could...honest!

Hahaha. Nice catch there MM. Guess I'd better make an edit there. Sadly, I think I'm gonna get a "Dammit Jim!" from my sys admin mentor/boss. He's been married 20 someodd years and raised 3 children, one of which is considered a teenage professional in ballet. NYC is clamoring to get its claws on him.

Anyway, I'll have to keep my guard up. Technically she's the brains of this outfit...well...Ph.D. in Neuroscience. She'll be defending her dissertation on Monday. Yikes. I have every bit of confidence that she'll pull through with flying colors though. She's good about keeping focused and doing what needs to be done. And unlike me, actually gets it done. I procrastinate too much. :P

Yeah, changes are coming, but for the better I think. She'll be graduating in December, and then likely heading up to Iowa City for her postdoc position, and I'll be following next May after my lease runs out heh. I'm pretty stoked about it all. Just hope I can get a job lined up in time.

Okay, I need sleep, and I think I've yammered on enough.

My sincerest condolences. Neh. She's a smart cookie like mine, eh? That's good for you. A brilliant spouse helps to keep yer brain firing on all cylinders.

Enjoy her.

Nothing stirs up polar opposite reactions in my brain like some guy saying he's getting married...it can be the ol' "best of times and worst of times" type thing...marriage has been the root of the greatest times in my life, and the most trying times...it's a conundrum.

That said, it's a conundrum worth experiencing and I doubt I'd trade it for anything...

...with the possible exception of Jennifer Aniston...but that's a discussion for another time...

Congrats as well from here. Fall wedding's are cool. Sept. here and it was great. Not too hot and not too cold, just right.

Just remember though, once they say I do means that now they can say [bNot tonight, I have a _________.[/b] :-)

I'm with dB as well, good and bad. But enjoy the ride. Its a hell of a lot of fun for the most part.

Congrats from here, as well. While I'm not married, perse, the relationship I'm in has been running for over fifteen years now, and I must say that above and beyond all that is obvious, the one thing that sets a very-long term relationship apart from any other, is that knowing someone so completely through and through leads to a level of closeness that can not be achieved by any other means other than a long stretch of time itself. Enjoy... and keep yoiur promises.

Thanks for the well wishes guys. One of the things that makes me glad to be a part of this community. I can kinda see where you're coming from, Hue. We've been dating each other for 4 years now, going on into a 5th year. We've hit a rough spot or two, but nothing that couldn't be smoothed out with support and a bit of TLC. The future is looking brighter every moment, and I can assure you, I'll treat her well.

Again, thanks for the kind words, it does mean a lot.

Congrats from here as well J-bot! I took the plunge over ten years ago. I have never regretted that decision.

My wife holds a degree as well. I find that it helps keep things interesting. Someone that can hold there own in a debate. You never have a boring conversation.

Huzzah!

I too had a Sept wedding, in 2007, so we're just over a year on the marriage odometer. We've been together 17 yrs previous, so it's all good.

heh, our anniv is 4 days after her b-day. Not sure if that's better or worse.
