This has got to have been the longest, toughest, most frustrating work week on record, so to relieve the stress I hereby challenge any and all to a fight (or I might just go to a biker bar and push over someone's beer...touch their girlfriend's bum....or something...).

In the spirit of recent long threads with no resolve:

So...er...yeah.....whatever you feel very strongly about....I completely disagree.....

You're wrong.

Put 'em up.....

oh, don't call me out like that homie...we may be rumbling shortly...

My week has consisted of being told to code [this interface], I do, then the next day is do it [that way], so I do, then it's nah, I'd like it [the other way]...

::argh::

Dontcha just wanna hit someone!?

Believe me, dB-Wan, you'd have me bruised and bleeding in seconds. There would, I'll admit, be a strangely comforting feeling of numb pain I would feel, but it would at least be something tangible and real.

I'm just fed up with everybody (customers, mainly) being whiney, obtuse, and vague.
They are customers after all, so I really can't say, "Stop being whiney, obtuse, and vague" without losing business. However, a good slap upside the head would be so cathartic.

The good: I'm on vacation this week.

The bad: tomorrow I have to drive to Utah.

Put 'em up.

The bad: tomorrow I have to come back, and I assume they'll be yet more changes to the changes I changed all week...

Nothing beats taking a very simple idea and complicating it...

Why not I'm game. Warning I'm old. I cheet. I'll just bring my nine.

Monday rehearsal after work. Same six songs we have been playing for six months. I have learned to sing and play out of bordum. New drummer. No No stop its foot hand, foot foot hand, foot hand.....

Tuesday, lead singer, leaping nome, gets handed job for 55k a year driving a potato chip truck. Since 2001 I've managed up to 20 employees putting in over 100 hours a week and not seen that kind of cash in Michigan. Does he remember the loans he owns me.....Oh no...calls me up asking me which motorcycle he should buy. The one with the fuse hanging out the back.

Wendsday wife comes home after putting in 16 hours a day for over a week to make a science fair happen at her school and was rewarded by the superintendant by being told to do it again for the whole ******* district next month. Ok, still peanut butter in the cubard, and let's see, first detergent, then bleach, warm wash..... She doesn't make 55K a year.

Today boss comes home from vacation in Dubi and India. Comes into the office after it's closed. On the phone from home; Where's this, where's that, what's this number, that number...........

Pretty much an ordinary week. No complaints really.

I've averaged 3 or 4 hours of sleep per night for the past 6 weeks, tried 3 different medications for insomnia, and in my waking coma jacked up a few highly visible things at work. My motivation is near zero, my focus is shot, my stomach is chronically upset, and I hate my job.

If at first you do not win, make your posts longer. Defeat the emmeny wit boredom. Make it a battle of attrition.

This thread feels like home to me as well this week. I had a customer that came in angry at a new employee for something that carried over from his now closed business. That employee was not in that day so guess who had to take this idiots crap. I can promise you that if we had been anywhere other than my place of employment and he was talking to me like he was, we would have been figuring things out the old fashion way. I can't remember the last time I was that angry.
Hey Walt, I'm working on my three paragraph response for later in the thread.

Yup, I came yesterday to the Rake sitting outside near the lawn. Talk about a hint, sadly it snowed a bit this morning after a week of near 60 degrees :)

I have a feeling this thread will stick around far beyond this week . : ( Although there were many moments throughout, let me share my favorite with ya's .

Rehearsing...(a conversation with the bass player)
Me: Wrote a bridge for the new song... check it out...(plays bridge, proceeds into next part, works well)
Bass player: I don't like it .
Me: Ok, show me what you were thinking .
BP: What about that one piece we were playing around with last night that I came up with ?(proceeds to play that riff, but in a completely different key)
Me: That would work, but it's like this.(plays the actual riff he's refering to in the correct key)
BP: That's not it ! I know what I played !
Me: Ok, well the songs doesn't go near that key, and it simply can't go in 'next' .
BP: Right, we need a bridge for it !
Me: Well, you didn't like the one I came up with(which 'could've gotten him in that key if desired), so what do you suggest ?
BP: Nothing ! You never use anything I write, anyway .
Me: Gawks, drools a little, feels the knife... twisting .

The way-too-niceguy-drummer just sat in quiet disbelief, even he knew what key we were in . We had a good laugh about the whole thing after BP left shortly thereafter . The next practice was a 180, and I was well-reminded as to why I thought this band might be alot of fun... but the bass player did not attend, he had to work . : )

Its Friday night now. Just putzing about with the threads here and listening to some 61.

A good fight... maybe ten years ago. Na I can still kick all yers keister's! I'm a mean pissy old man and I like it that way.

Bad part of the week, its month end at work and the rush is on once again. Badder part of the week, the proto type system that was due last week is missing a ton of parts. But I knew that and if the idiot production manager had allowed the project to be started on time I would not have had to toss things around like a screaming 2 year old and stomp around screaming at un deserving victims to force them to get off their collective arses and find the missing parts pronto. Then with 15 minutes to spare before the customer is going to walk in and expect to be greeted with his system I find a friggin flaw in the code a noobie programmer wrote. Quckly and calmly I browse the pages of code until my eyes are crossed to find the faulty line and correct it. Sweat is now poring from parts of my body I didn't even know could sweat.

But alas with my blood pressure through the roof I wrap it all up and cart it out to the waiting customer, who does not even give me a thankful nod of appreciation. I reach for the large lead pipe but a swift kick to my ankle send me off to my corner to continue to slave over and fix some other fools mistake.

OK Walt, see if you can ramble longer then that on one simple little subject.

The good: We have 2 of our servers almost ready to go (courier e-mail server w/ squirrelmail, and Apache2 webserver w/ php)

The bad: We're still finalizing the SAN system, the NAS, and the infiniband cluster that's supposed to connect with the campus HPC center....and The big boss gets back from China in 1 week.

It's go time!
