A rockin boys dream come true!

So this guy, who happens to be the lead singer of a local band called Rockfist, who happens to the band that a friend of dB and myself gets a phone call one morning from the local hard rock station. The phone call had to do with a surprise visit from a little band called Queensryche. They were in town on a little spur of the moment gig to have a few local boys come up and sing with them. Well the guys at the station pretty much know that this guy, Rick is probably the best rock singer in the midwest. So they call him to make certain he comes to the club to sing with Freakin Queensryche.

Now mind you, Rick is probably the only guy I know that can hit Geoff Tate without even trying. You actually would not know who was who if they sang side by side and you closed yer eyes. Anyway, it wasn't even a contest. Rick went on first, a daring move to say the least. And this was actually voted on by crowd response. Needless to say the place went absolutely nuts. Some of the other guys didn't even get a peep outa the audience after Rick performance. But needless to say, he got to go to Seattle to perform live with Queensryche in a stadium along with 3 other dudes from around the country. He again opted to go on first, saddly the stadium was only about half full when he went on and of course the voting again was based on crowd response, so that ended the rock fantasy there. But he is still looking on the bright side. Getting to perform with your biggest rock hero's on stage in front of your home town crowd and then even getting that chance to go out west and have one more shot. What more could you ask for.

Anyway, someone shot a kind of shabby video of the moment, but it gets the point across a and shows Rick having the time of his life in a local club here playing onstage with Queensryche. Just thought I'd share it with you guys as I consider Rick a friend and its one of his proudest moments.

very important thing I learned a couple years ago... always go second to last... people show up late...and if the second to last act is really good they won't stay for the last... or they'll be out at the second to last's table.

I had no idea Rick did that, holy crap.

And yeah, to back Noize, this guy is a great singer, and the guitarist (friend of Noize and I) is a frickin awesome guitar player...actually, he's a member here...HawgRider or something like that...I forget, he's not here much.

I was in a Zeppelin tribute band, and our lead vocalist could sing like that. It should be against the law, or at least require a special license.

Ya, Ben said it was a last minute thing. And 93 X called him to make sure he showed up as they knew he would be a shoe in.

CS, if he ever makes it there I'll make sure he stops in to see you. Who knows, maybe an 80's cover band tour will roll through NZ and Rockfist will be on it. :-)

But ya, I've worked with a lot of vocalist's and he is freaking fantastic. The entire band is great. Very tight and really put on a good show.

Wow, congrats to Rick! That was a stellar performance. I had a flash of the movie "Rockstar" there for a moment too. Geoff should be careful, they might replace him. ;)
