Flu bug

I just had this happen, and I had to tell someone about it. It's really kind of funny.

I am working on repairing a Countryman isomax 2. And I need to know the wire pin out for the mic. So I call up Countryman, and see if I can get it from them.

The first thing that I hear is "Can you hold Please!!" The music starts playing before I can even answer.

Some woman answers the phone, asking if she can help me. I explain to her my situation. There is this really long pause. And she replies, that she is only a temp. She has no idea of where she is at, or even what she should be doing there. The only thing that she knew, is that the entire Countryman corporation is out with the flu.

So, I asked "Should I call back next week?" Uhm.....sure. Maybe that would be good.

Wow! Now that is a flu bug!

Interesting, I gotta say tho, the flu this year up here in Minnesota has been outrageous...in a very small company I could see it really being a problem.

In my house the same flu has been going to my kids, wife and me, just rotating between us all...for like two months...ask Noize, every time he calls somebody else is sick over here...it's crazy...and I never get sick...

I saw on the news that 44 or 46 states in the US is under the flu epidemic. They put certain flu strains in the magic shot, but different ones became prevelant, so everybody's sick.

My kids got some sort of cold, and now the missus and I have a nasty cold / flu (not sure which). It's taking a long time to leave me, over a week, and usually I'm only under for a few days.

That's crazy, as we develop vacines the bugs get stronger...sometimes it's better to just tough it out rather than medicate yourself every time ya sniffle. Nobody in my house has been 100% for weeks...hell, I haven't been 100% since high school, but that's another story entirely...

Combine that with a lice outbreak in my kids' school and it's been a fun run...fortunately my kids haven't got the lice thing, a few friends have been through hell with it tho.

School is great for spreading bad stuff...

i have so far managed to not get any flu or cold this year. i usually don't get sick anyway, but last year i did and didn't want to go through it again, so this year i have some of those alcohol wipes and i take one precaution: if a store clerk has the sniffles, i wipe down the surface of the items i bought when i get back home, then wash my hands too. seems like the quickest way to get sick is to touch your eyes after touching something contaminated, so i just try to realize when i touch something. ive been opening doors with my sleeves, too.

trust me...and every military person will probably agree... just get the Small Pox and Anthrax series at the same time and you will never feel as bad again. :)

I wish I was that lucky :/

I'm just now getting over one. Woke up Wednesday with a sore throat not too bad, just there and annoying. That carried on through thursday, and was gone friday, but then I had a really runny nose. Saturday, enter the coughing. Sunday was the peak of coughing misery, and then It cleared up by Monday night. I'm still congested, but at least the coughing is done.

Made it through last year unscathed. Guess I can't win em all heh.

Forty: the bit with the sleeves is a precaution I've been taking for a long time hehe. Especially out in public. But yeah, bacteria/virii will gladly travel in through the fluid ducts in your eyes. Or nose..or mouth... My boss washes her hands almost religiously. Wiping stuff down is a good idea too. Sometimes I have to give one of the lab benches a good wiping with ethanol because we occasionally work with E. Coli to prepare stuff for the classes.

Ya dB speaks the truth. I'm pretty lucky that the boyz are a bit older now and dont bring much home. But when they were dB's girls age and younger they brought every desease known to man into this house. I had not been sick nor missed a day of work until my kids started school. Then it was like an epidemic.

I believe that the bugs are getting tuffer though as stated above and it is making it hard to not get sick.

I have only cuaght a small cold this year and just tuffed it out. And not gotten the flu shot in two years now and been pretty lucky to not get knocked down for more then a day. And lucky as well not too many have gotten really sick at work either so that is a plus.

Bad here in Michigan too. The engineers I "lease" have been turning in lots of sick days. I've been lucky in a sense. Sandy being a teacher has been bringing every black plague home for years. She'd sniffel and I try to die. I think I am finaly developing an amune system. I felt like a truck ran over me for about a month, but never enough to stop me. My sister on the other hand ended up locked down to home with pnemonia for three weeks. Nasty stuff.

Well... I picked up something yesterday... OMG ... small pox vaccine still felt worse... but this one is just _wrong_ ...

That and my cat (muffy) is in the process of tanking too (either kidney failure or severe mouth infection)... so the house smells awful...

Sorry to hear that Zek. I have two fur heads myself. I know how they become family members really fast. Matter of fact, I have one of my fur heads in my lap right now.

Yeah, Sorry Zek, we've got two cats here as well. It's always a pain loosing a pet.
