My situation is the following, I have a behringer MX602 which has two preamplified channels and two line channels withou the preamp. So I must have an external preamp to plug the mics so they can be plugged in the non-preamped channel in the mixer. Can I plug the mic into a guitar amp and use the line out to send the amplified signal to mixer? or Can I use the guitar amp as a preamp?

Jan 05, 2003 09:54 am DO NOT send the amplified signal to the mixer, you could seriously damage the mixer. However, fi your guitar amp has a simple line out, that is not amplified, that can work as a preamp just fine. Just don't plug the speaker outs into the mixer, just the line outs, if they exist.

Jan 05, 2003 10:31 am a lot of folks do, it's not advisable, but if you don't run at insane volumes you probably won't wreck anything.

Your Guitar amp will act as a pre-amp (well, a straight amp) - but it's gonna be dirty, the the sort of thing you really want to send your microhphone signals through.
