It can happen, that is for sure. A buddy of mine almost loaded my backside with birdshot when we were in the woods partridge hunting.

Needless to say, I never hunted with the idiot again.

I don't think I've ever partaken in a military exercise that wasn't "indexed" due to live ammo getting mixed into the blanks.

I think hunting/firearm safty should be mandatory for all middleschoolers.

...but a 28 gauge? what the heck is that? I've seen up to 8 gauges but nothing so small as a 28 gauge...

Well, the spin that is being put on this says the old dude split from the main party and didn't announce himself when re-entering the party, which I can believe from a hunting persepective, one does need to do that...however, I am guessing that was not the 78 year old guys first hunting trip and is probably well aware of such protocol.

Good thing they weren't deer hunting...

My son is in a junior rifle league. Doing pretty well, I might add.

28 gauge is pretty common for bird hunters. My drummer friend has one. He's gonna bring it to the sportsman's club for our kid's fun day / skeet shoot.

Yep, 28 gauge is very popular for the smal bird hunters. If you've ever seen what even light birdshot does to a quail when using a 12 gauge it isnt pretty. Even a 20 gauge can leave you with not much meat at close range.

So...what's wrong with shooting an old republican lawyer from Texas? I thought that was a good thing. Isn't it old republican lawyer season anyway?

I'm with dB on this one.

What else can happen to this administration?

I gotta just not pay attention to any of it anymore as it just makes me really start to wonder what the hell this world is coming to.

Now Cheney said he drank one beer at lunch! HAHA

I know everytime I've been asked how many beers I've had, if I said one I was so full of crap my eyes were brown.

So a recap:
Cheney gets drunk, decides hunting would be fun, shoots his hunting partner, poor guy has a heart attack...am I forgetting anything?

Well at least it didnt take 30+ hours to tell anyone what happened like it took Hillary and Bubba to come forward about Vince Fosters DEATH! I totally understand why though as cleaning out incriminating documents from his office does take time :))

I think the mainstream press is making a big friggin deal over nothing. The local press was informed within a couple hours after the accident via the owner of the ranch where they were hunting. The big boy press was juat all pissed off that they didnt get the scoop first so they are playing this up for all it's worth...typical.

I agree with Robbue. While it is unfortunate that it happened, it is a hunting accident, plain and simple. It happened on private land during a private outing. Due to the standard personnel that accompany people in the position Cheney is in, medical staff was immediately on hand to care for the wounded man.

it is all very unfortunate, I feel for the guy that got shot, but when hunting, things like this happen...but as typical of mainstream media, they are trying to make it into a much bigger deal than it is.

The idiots that make up the media must have forgotten that HIPPA regulations restrict the release of any medical information about anyone. So to ask repeated questions about why Cheney didnt tell everyone how the guy was doing or what condition he was in would have been in violation of those regulations.

well, reporters, by their own standard, often feel they are above the law...
