I dont know how many will remember the big deal made over Behringer copying Boss pedals design but this one just shows even the big guys will steal from the little guys if they can and its worth it.

I thought something was familiar about the new moniters released by M-Audio, now I know why.

This one is more then just stealing, they actually tried to make people believe that this was the real deal and that ESI was making these for them.

Those bastards.... I'm going to throw out my 18/14 right now! Ok... well maybe not, but still, that's shoddy, downright shoddy.

this is not stealing, its called capitalism and great marketing. according to Musicians Friend the esi ones are discontinued. if someone is too stupid that they dont know what brand monitors they are buying its their own fault.

Well I beg to differ there xtc. When they blatantly state the speakers are being made by ESI and they are not and had no knowledge of the exact copies being made by some low rate outfit in China. Then I consider that stealing to a degree. Trying to make ESI look bad if the speakers are inferior.

And the ESI moniters may not be sold by Musicians Friend any more but they are still sold elswhere.

It's not "stealing", perse', it is however misreprentintation, poor business tactics and just being lame. It's the same thing Behringer was ripped for with the pedals that Noize mentioned.

well i think if ESI had a legite case against m-audio those monitors would be haulted and they might in the future?!? they have the DMCA on their side :)

the boss copy pedals behringer put up on their site where changed very fast after boss hit them with the legal stuff. I was really excited about those pedals, till i found out they were housed in plastic not a good design for something you stomp on..

my musicians friend reference was only to state that those monitors are discontinued, sure you can prolly still buy them but discontinued to me means esi is phasing them out and no long manufacturing them.

looking at the pictures of the two monitors at least m-audio changed up the appearance.

but hell the esi are 100 bux cheaper.. hmm

I'd expect better from M-Audio. I've been a big fan of theirs ever since I started researching before I bought my Delta44.

Yeah, I'm not exactly sure that there is an impropriety going on here, but it definitely smells funny.

Hehe, I think Behringer got what they deserved with those rip-off (in both senses of the phrase) stomp boxes. They ended up with a series of pedals so cheap that they're destined to never leave the bedrooms of 14-year-old guitarists all over the world. Move over Arion, there's a new bottom to the barrel!

hahahahahahahahahaha so true. if they only came up with their own casing design preferrably a metal one, they could have had something there.

i guess now danoelctro pedals are moving up too.. hahaha

Ya know what tho, I was that 14 year old guitarist once, and I needed somebody to make a pedal that was affordable even if it wasn't gig worthy...

Ya know, now that you say that dB. I remember when Boss pedals werent so expensive. That was before they got so popular I guess. Then the Ibanez Tube Screamer was pretty cheap back then as well. Now they are spendy, just because somebody famous used em on some famous song. Oh well, thats how the ball will always roll I guess.
