this is a very early mix...tell me if ya like the 57's on the guitars paned hard L/R......i think it's pretty raw and BRUTAL!!! the intro is up to 49 tracks deep due to my stomping and attempt at a 'drumcorps' style intro....i think it does alright...the marching starts in mono and fades in and 'outward' (pan) so it sounds like they march right up to your face, i tried the reverb thing, and it sounded like we were 'indoors' and i kinda liked the 'outdoor' effect with very little reverb, i did end up with a small early reflections with the highs rolled off, it made everything melt together better....well it will after more mixing andhotter levels...but lemme know if ya like the direction this one is gooin' in, compaired to the others...this one is ALWAYS a crowd pleaser and whips up a pit GAURENTEED...
it's in my profile called "My Nation"

good noize, i didn't hear the marching boots. did i miss something, or are these PC crappy shack speakers not bringing it through? there's the snare cadence, plus kick, but no marching.
anyway, i liked the feel, push, and drive of this. i also liked the gits panned, but can't really give much of a critique because of these speaks.
me likey.
Aug 09, 2005 11:53 am yeah it's real quiet in the intro, i havn't really got proper levels up yet. if ya crank it ya might hear it.

Aug 09, 2005 12:01 pm personally I like it. Drums sound really warm. guitars could be thicker but that is just my personal preference. Overall good recording.

Aug 09, 2005 03:07 pm I think it sounds excellent WYD. Love the sound on the bass & guitars, drums too. The kick might be a little prominent and hard sounding, but I don't normally listen to this kind of music really, so that might be exactly how it should be. :)

Aug 09, 2005 03:17 pm I think that I just snapped something in my neck while bobbing to this song! I, too, am not an avid listener to this genre, nevertheless, I really like it. The song sounds very professional...love the dueling 57s left and right. My wife hates it...which might the highest praise you can receive!
Bring the marching boots up a bit...I like them!
Aug 09, 2005 03:18 pm It's been a while since I've posted...I forgot about the hag's picture that I'm using for my avatar. Damn near made me soil myself when I saw it again!
Aug 09, 2005 04:09 pm lol thanks guys!...i'm gonna beef up the guitars a bit with a bit more low mids...three ppl have mentioned the kick beein' too loud...so i'll see to that.
thanks for listenin'....i should have a ruff mix of the whole song this weekend.

Aug 09, 2005 05:33 pm Mix sounds good. Cool idea for the intro, but like everyone else has said, i can only hear the marching when its turned up.
Just curious, what mic are you using on vocals when he does screams? I know you had said you double track them but is there any thing else that you do to them? Thanks a bunch.
Aug 09, 2005 06:17 pm we did have a good vocal chain....AKG C4000 > Presonus Blue Tube (preamp) > FMR RNC(compressor)....minor eq, and about 3 layers of compression (counting tracking) and a smidge of reverb are all the processing....i did set the compressor on an aux buss, and blended the compressed sound with the original.
