Yesterday, a wicked guy gave me the chance to play (and give some advice) my mixes on a $16,000 B & W speaker system (yes, I said $16,000).

Its absolutely amazing to hear everything in such detail!

The speakers really put me in my place about my mixes versus commercial mixes. Most of my mixes lacked a bit of low end, and most of them came out quite thin to what I had expected. Really brought out all the weaknesses of my genelecs!

For me, this really stresses the importance of a sub woofer in a studio.

Apart from the bass F, the high F (mainly OH's) were quite over powering, and the vocals were deffinately the weak point of the songs.

On the plus side, he said they were still better than most of the stuff he listens to, and wicked results for a home studio.

Looks like we're slowly climbing the quality charts!

An amazing experience that I thought I'd share.

Cheers

Yea, It sounded pretty darn cool.
