Jul 02, 2005 03:25 pm I can't wait for Floyd.
Bruce Cockburn stole the show for me so far, I was not expecting that in the least.

Jul 05, 2005 12:05 pm Pink Floyd played Breathe, Money, Wish you were here and Comfortably numb.
I have heard that there will not be a DVD released but I didn't hear it from any "official" sources and I'm hoping that info is incorrect.

Jul 05, 2005 06:51 pm One cool post concert anecdote...
Every band that was a part of the Hyde park contingent saw a boost in sales EXCEPT for Pete Doherty (poor guy).
Pink Floyd saw nearly a %1400 increase in the sale of "Echoes" their greatest hits package. They will be donating all the profits to charity as a result of this.
Hopefully some of the others will follow suit.
Jul 05, 2005 07:23 pm were the concerts free? because i read they were about drawing awareness of the G8 and not to raise money for africa?

Jul 05, 2005 07:47 pm Yes they were, but good on Floyd for taking revenue that this concert basically generated for them and giving it to those who need it.
I wouldn't expect everyone involved to do the same, as not everyone involved has the kind of money that Floyd has earned over the years but if those who can do it decide to, then it's a great thing all around.
It's more than just the money though, the G8 needs to stop supporting or turning a blind eye to the corruption in most of these starved African nations. As long as there are corrupt regimes in power, there is no guaranteeing the money gets to where it needs to go.

Jul 07, 2005 05:39 pm Is there anyone left on the planet who doesn't own Dark Side Of The Moon?
Gotta say, apart from Roger Water's voice (a cold? emothions? lack of practice?), Pink Floyd were amazing. Gave me chills, and made my wife cry.
It was amazing to see the difference between a "pop star" and a legend. PF were just soooo much better than everyone else.

Jul 08, 2005 05:00 am Live 8 looked like it would have been a good show, great tunes and good bands. But The $$ from the show thgis year didn't go to any aid,(or so the news said) that's why the name when from live aid to 8 and they were rasing "awarness". I like the music and the bands and i go to a # of shows that have no political agenda and don't raise cash for no one except the record labels and what not, but i thought it was kinda cheaky to be raising awarness this year instead of money, i gess bono's iPod sales aren't doing well.
