I was just wondering what some recording books/info you guys couldn't live without. Some of mine are (as mentioned off topic in another thread): Practical Recording Techniques; Third Edition by Bruce and Jenny Bartlett, The Everything Home Recording Book by Marc Schronbrun, and The Home Recording Handbook. Anyone else got some good ones?

Jun 09, 2005 12:20 am The Yamaha sound reinforcement bookis great. Also Tom misner's practical recording tips.
That said, i dont really use them that much...... but the yamaha one sure helps you understand the technical side a hell of a lot more.
Jun 09, 2005 02:28 am i like the whole "Power" books, there's quite a few, from pro tools to cubase, plus tons of non-platform specific volumes too...is veddy good deal.
also i'd like to mention the Guitar Handbook, without it i'd be lost in this world of music, and any of the Grimoire books THEY ROCK!!!

Jun 09, 2005 11:04 am I'm with Tadpui, I use these forums (and a few others but no free plug here), Google and I also look forward to my copy of GuitarOne arriving in the mail. But then again, I also experiment a lot, throw out the books and play around.
Jun 09, 2005 11:13 am yeah, i've read quite a few music/recording books, and to be honest, i havn't touched a one in roughly 6 months now, well except for a quick reference here and there.

ROCK!!!! yes it's alot more fun (as you rise over the learning curve of all this stuff) it allows you to create, and express your own sonic vision. but this can lead to 'reinventing the wheel' where you spend trememdus amounds of time learning something that you couldda read (or discussed ยง;o)) about.
