Working with a 17 piece big band. Have been recording rehersal sessions for a bit and am pealing down the bigger problems such as mic sweet spots, amp placement, ensamble balance, etc. Am now hearing the room acustics coming through loud and clear.....Yuck! A large can with a resonance at low G flat! Adding effects is not getting it. Rough crowd. Had to reverse eq the mic color before they where happy! Any suggestions that will cost less than the newest monster truck from GM?
Havin too much fun!
Thanks

May 11, 2002 06:56 am Hiya Walt. Sonex or Auralex (or one of the acoustic foam companies) makes textured foam sheets that mount on a mic stand. If the room has venetian blinds, turning one up, one down at a 45 degree angle helps more than it should. Good luck, George.
May 11, 2002 07:45 am is their much furniture int he room, chairs, sofas, bookshelves, etc. You can move them around a little bit as well, if you have tall bookshelves, move then angled in the corners to help eliminate bass traps, maybe even remove some of it if there is to much...
just a thought.

Thanks so much for the replies! George, Mic stands we do have! I will check out the two references that you made. Blinds we are short on but that too gives me ideas. They are cheep and can be mounted from light stands. Sounds like a good experiment. DB Master, Yup Yup got plenty of junk around. It's a high school band room. I'll start re-aranging. School ends next month and we will have two months to be our own inferior decorators! Too cool!

May 11, 2002 12:45 pm Just to add to dB's idea of the bookcase on the corner. You can roll up blanket's or whatever and bput them behind the bookcase's or whatever you might have and that will really help keep the low end in control.
