It's original man! The only that might be "stolen" is the chord progression...well, for the chords that I heard in my head. The actual piece was really only a melody.

Don't worry about at all! Think about it this way: Just because a tomato plant grows spontaneously in your back yard does not mean you stole seeds from the market.

In other words, if a musical idea comes to you and you claim it as your own, even if it sounds familiar, it came from YOU, so in that respect, you didn't steal anything.

Besides, even if those notes were written by someone else in the past, you're not in any trouble. I listen to a lot of film music and there's always someone who complains that one score sounds a lot like some underground 17th century piece written by some Russian dude that no one knows...I hate people who do that.

You all know the song "Clocks" by Coldplay? Well, probably a month BEFORE I ever heard of the band, I came up with an almost-exact piano part that was played in that song! It was freaky!

Another story: Every night I sleep with music playing in my stereo all night long. Sometimes I listen to my own original music when I sleep (I know...it's kind of vain). Anyways, one night I had a dream that one of my compositions was already written by a professional composer and I had to discard my rendition of...even though I KNEW I originally wrote that piece. It was creepy...And I'm sure it happens to people other than me!

Okay, that's all my yappin'.

Yes the way I think of it is there are melodies floating around in the universe and it's a matter of "tuning" into them. It's no suprise that people "tune" into the same one every so often..more often than not, lol.

Hey - THATS MINE! BWWWWWWWHAHAHAAHHAHA!!

Just kiddin man...I dont think its stolen at all dude...not at all. So, its all good.

And, consider this - if ye listen to most ANY Oasis track you'll see blatant plagerisim which has pretty much gone unchallenged.

Jez, I mean check the start of "Dont Look Back In Anger" - its Imagine. Check "Cigarettes & Alcohol" - its T-Rex (COMPLETELY). Check out any number of songs and its all clear...

In fact, most all rock music is taken from, and built on, blues scales so effectively, its all stolen to an extent...music is free man... you can copyright chords!! So.. GO FOR IT DUDE!

ahh...I know what your talking about WYD. That theme from the Truman Show is actually a classical piece by some dead guy. (I think it's by Chopin, but I'm most likey wrong).

Anyway, the chord that catches you off guard is a major fifth. Reason why it's so catchy is because the song is played in a minor key.

If you don't like theory but know guitar chords...try play and e minor chord progress to a B Major chord. Or try playing a d minor chord and progress to an A Major.

That's my knowledge...

Thanks for listening everyone!

Looks like i'm in the clear :)

WYD, The last chord is a D major but it comes off another one but i'm not sure what it is. the notes are D, F and a#.

I can't read music so i dont know what it's called :)

But the rest, as Gemiknight said, is pretty much all Minor.

Thanks again everyone, really appreciate it.
